Hi guys,

'97 Ver S rider here. I've recently changed my sprocket and chain to what I suppose was the stock size of Front sprocket 15T and Rear sprocket 44T. The thing is, my bike used to be able to go 100km/h at 6k rpm in 6th gear but now I have to hit at least 6.5k rpm in 6th gear to achieve 100km/h.

I was thinking of reverting back to my pre-servicing chain set up as the strain on my bike is more noticeable now and my fuel consumption has taken a relatively-sizeable hit (around 23km/l now from ~26km/l previously).

What is the sprocket teeth set up I have to change to in order to get a better "top"/cruising speed with the least strain on my 18yr old bike? Look forward to your inputs and thanks in advance!

maybe you can just change the rear sprocket to 42T?perhaps that was ur previous sprocket rear TOOTH...or down to 41T?....or just change your front sprocket to 16T........

I ride at 70km/hr only...please please dont blow2 at me or overtake me dangerously....wait i change into Incredible Hulk n dont know why my little baby bike will always be ahead of u if u do that

Hi to all,

I currently own a PB1 and it is in running condition, but exterior appearance is really bad. I am thinking of doing an overhaul to the engine, and also change the exterior parts of the bike so that it will look spanking new.

Would like to have suggestions on which workshop to go to that can do a good job in restoring the bike.

Thanks in advance.

Please PM me / Whatsapp me 92479696 if interested

Please do not reply to the forum thread as i rarely check the threads. Thanks!

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

no one have the prob? ^

Check all your mounting bolts for tightness. The 4 allen keys screw of the clamps on your handle. Also..the bolts that tighten your set of forks to the body stem clamps. Also check your front wheel axle bolts and nuts. If you have recently installed 3 point crash bar..expect some tinking vibration..if this happened..try tightening them a bit more. Good luck.

Hi All,

I have a question. What sensor switches on the Radiator Fan? Is it the thermostat? Or is it the temperature sensor? Or both?

The reason why I am asking:

My orig speedo/tach meter just died, so I replaced with a KOSO digital meter. So far I manage to wire up so it works well. However, the KOSO comes with its own Temp sensor, which is similar to original CB400SF one. I can screw the new KOSO temperature sensor directly into the CB400sf thermostat (1to1 fit, assuming I remove the original temperature sensor), but don't know if I should do that. I don't dare remove the original Temp Sensor, because I am assuming it is needed for automatic switch on of the radiator fan?

Also, how do I know if my radiator fan / thermostat / temp sensor is even working, when I ride i never really notice my fan going on...

Thanks!

To clarify this is the part I removed:

Isn't this the thermo/temp sensor?

Is this part required for the fan to automatically switch on?

BTW:

I connected one of my spare KOSO warning lights to the original wire for TEMP WARNING LED. For some reason, this light is now PERMANENTLY on (even though the bike is not overheating.) I recall somewhere that AFTERMARKET CB400SF meter will also have same problem (ie. Temp light always on).

Any explanation for this? Thanks!

That's just a temperature sensor..can just buy off for a few $s at Sim Lim Tower also. That got nothing to do with turning on the fan but rather provide temperature read out to your temperature meter..in this case, now..your KOSO unit digital read out. The one that you should NOT TOUCH is the stubby looking round unit screwed (with a wire plugn in) on to your radiator on the lower left side..that's a thermal fan switch..one that detect more than 102 degreed Celsius to turn "ON" your fan. If your fan seldom turns ON unless caught in traffic jam or idle stationary too long..it's a good thing but if your fan keep s cutting ON..it's trouble coming!

THANK YOU SIR!!!

I was so confused... I did not know there is two separate thermally activated units... (one sensor just for temp gauge, and one switch for fan).

Ok, I will fix back my Koso temp sensor now :) Phew!

Anyone knows if CB400 PB1 CDI I can just buy online?

I was thinking this one: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Motorcycle-Parts-Ignition-CDI-Unit-CB400SF-NC31-for-Honda-LXD-NC31/538533348.html

But I not sure..

I read other forums that CDI for CB400 is different depend on the year...

As long as it is for Non Vtec..from PB1 to Version R to S..they are all similar. Careful though from what I know..some of this MIC product are not reliable especially when the CDI gets hot..the bike jerks a lot. I dunno about the ones you provided the link from though. Why do u need to buy?

Mine is 1996 PB1, and I will most likely renew COE next year.

Bike is running smoothly, but Since most of the parts are already 20 yrs ++, it is a matter of time before they might spoil (meter already spoilt).

So hoping to stock up some of the critical parts to last me the next 10 years!

Apart from CDI any other hard to replace items? From what I saw online, getting the exact CDI for my PB1 (CB400 F2V) is really difficult! I read one forum, they said that Ver S cannot use PB1 because of some issue with throttle position sensor... (dunno if true?)

You are riding a PB1..why are you concern about the throttle position sensor or rather that Ver S cannot use a PB1 CDI? The purpose of the throttle position sensor is more for power cut-off limitation function I believe..just my guess.

I not so concerned actually. Just thinking that if PB1 cannot work on Ver S, perhaps also possible Ver S also cannot work on PB1.

I just hope to get a CDI that works...
