Hey guys, my dad jus replaced the starter relay but the bike still refuse to start...

He says the "click" sound once u press the switch got louder...

:giddy: :giddy: :giddy:

Any idea if u clean the "carbon brushed" would rectify the problem...

Or is there something more to it...

Okay..before narrowing down to the brush carbon fair wear and tear probelm, I assume that the bike can still be push start and this problem is a "on and off" situation like you siad initially in your first post.

Try this..since your dad is a Black & decker man...tell him to create sudden "jogs" on the starter motor unit..any method he can think of. For me, I use a mallet and a long tough wooden stud and tap and thud on it hard at certain area of it. The idea is to create sudden viration and 'schock' to shake any stuck carbon loose. After that try restart again and se how.

If all else fails..can push start and ride to nearest mototiam (save you $10...unless it can't fire up...MrQuan suggestion applies) and have the internal part replace (no need whole unit replacement).

The other thing is that I won't rule out that the battery may be weak too after the relay replacement. So do check after riding awhile to see if it can crank again before going to shop.:goodluck:

Yup, the bike can be push start...

(First tym push-start a s4 is nt as easy as i tot it would be...)

:faint::faint::faint:

The problem is the bike wont start once u press the ignition switch...

Funny thing is, the problem goes away when u leave the bike for a couple of hours...

But returns back if u off ur engine n want to restart it immediately...

Will relay the knocking of carbon off from bike to dad...

Thanks again guys....

Just wanna add that Carlube recommended by Ah Pek is way smooth. Ha.. And the tick tick sound disappeared after the oil change. Think my previous EO had thinned too much after reaching past 7000km and couldn't offer any cushion from metal-to-metal contact. ~ :thumb:

Heh MaverickRD...actually this is sign and sympton of battery very weak. If after push start (walk start also can..) and when engine fires up..take a long long ride and see if battery charge up..test by on/off engine and start with start switch. If its a no_no..that means the rectifier or alternator soil is having a heart attack anytime.

When we change our wheel bearings, is there a need to add grease to the new ones?

The shop i changed didnt add grease, and im kinda worried if it will affect the lifespan of the bearings (prone to rust if ride in rain, etc)

Yes and no. Grease tends to get harden after sometime unless they have the hi -temp melting point type. The best is to spray it with silcon lubricant now..can be found in DIY shop at $7.00 to $10.00

Bearing rust only when water somehow force themselves into it..gaurantee rust! Initiatly, its pack with grease from factory..will eventually drys out and plus bearing movement wear and tear..metal fragments are expected...so the best is to keep the rubber seal packing outside soft and clean and protected..so it won't crack easily.

dont mention abt the weight WITH full tank bro. hahah! that one if wanna push start, better find a down slope. but i tried stand and push the bike, jump and tap to gear 1 from neutral. much more easier.

I'd rather get a Leo Vince than a Louis Vuitton.

Go into second gear, clutch in...walk easy and pick up speed..then let off hallf clutch and slight open throttle at the same time..when the engine kicks in, clutch in and throttle on...can stop walking :)
