hi riders,i have been quite bothered with my FC.

so hope to get some advice/suggestions/recommendations.

First of all,i understood from ah pek that FC of every bikes vary, and many factors that will affect FC such as types of tyres used, tyres pressure, riding styles...etc.

But will just like to check with everyone if there are any ways, more or less which will help improve my FC,cos its really bad.

Some information:

My ride is a Version S

Tried riding normally and wack, both give about the same FC.

Use Esso 5000

Micron End Can only

FC - pump full tank and have to turn to reserve at 200km to 240km;Otherwise,engine will stall and will not be able to start.

Meaning my FC is only about 13-16km per litre.

I think this is really bad.haha.

Anyone can advise? Thanks

Hi hanxx

your mileage is really bad. But did the bike go for top overhaul cause that may be ONE of the causes. I remembered cause we bought the bike around the same time and i was quite interested in the bike.

Cause what i heard is top overhaul will change the FC of the bike...but thats what i heard only ah...need confirmation from those who have done top overhaul....

FYI my bike consumption before hitting reserve is ard 350-360, pump usually around 14-16litres. Dont dare to use until reserve bo liao. S4 heavy bike leh, i dont want to push to petrol station. Last time my kana my phantom, already sweat like run SOC...haha

Riding style: 50-50 Highway/major road

Speed: 100-120 Highway/0-80 Major/Minor road

Change gear: 3-5 Rpm

Petrol: Petronas 98/Shell 98/Shell 95

Good luck trying to find the source of your prob. Try changing part by part so you can monitor the FC/difference. If you change all at once you may not know what part you changed that causes the difference:)

Gearone

Btw Hanxx and patience needed...if you really wanna see how your bike perform for your fc..pump a full tank near to the brim and go ride on the longest expressway you can find and seee how it does..stick to 90km/hr to 120km/hr the very most and see how you fare. I'm saying this is because it could be your riding style and routes taken daily. Do it over an weekend evening and continue the next morning if it takes to finished the tank.

Base on the above, you can determine the likely problem of your bike.

I did that a long time ago and surprising clocked 350km+ before hitting reserve on an old horse machine.

:sian:

Hi ah pek

Maybe you suprised that the bike clocked 350km cause the way you ride mah...haha:angel:

For normal riding i always clock around 350-360++...ver S=Slow rider...hahah

It aint me officer...The bike is POSSESSED!!

23 jalan buroh is beside SPC. is it that area?

there are 2 SPC, 1 is near exxon mobil oil refinery, the other SPC is before CWT distripark. The scrap yard is before Jurong island round about if you are heading towards west coast.

a good indication of tank leak is a strong petrol smell on the next morning after parking for a night. happened to one of the bikes at my carpark, the smell is very obvious. otherwise, Ah Pek's method is the best to check if the reason is due to the operating components or a leak somewhere.

Hi Ah Pek,

Was wondering if you know of any motor shop which can do the "tyre repair patch from inside" method? Presently, my rear tire is leaking again from an old patch done previously by the "injection" (or worm) method.

Just went to Mah Motors and they told me that the only solution now is to use the "repair patch from inside" method. Unfortunately, they don't have the facility to do this kind of repair. They also agreed that my tyre, which still has over 75% life left, is too wasteful to be discarded. Thanks for your advice if possible.

Dear friends, anyone know what is the possible cause of engine oil leak for the ver S? After parking the ride at the lot, next day discover a patch of engine oil at the ground. Small patch found on the ground somewhere near the rear brake pedal. There seem to be some dripping stain found behind the triangular "fairing" where it house the coolant spare reservior.

Any tip or place to fix this?

Came across few cases where previous worm patches leak. This is because of the poor quality type worm rubber latex used.:sian:

Can always 're-worm' but make sure that extra gluey be coated on the wprm latex strip. Ah Fook dome that liao recently for someone.

Patching from insdie should work too..bring along your bicycle patch set..can get from Mustafa and go to Ah Fook workshop. Tyre has to come off, sand from inside around the leak area and applied the patch as with bicycle/motobike inner tubing repair work. Guess the process would cost more.

Nothing to fix..it's excessive eo "blow by" vopour grease accumulated due to too much eo filled. This comes from the engine overhead by pass breather. Also comes from the no excess waste nozzle siuted at the botyom of your air filter box..this is where excess eo flows out. Normally temporary. If it's continuos for a few days..its something else.:sian:

Not to over sight, may be you wanna have a good look under and see if your oil sump (bottle tray of your engine gear box). Sometime, fling up stones can punture and crack the eo sump base housing.
