Hi guys,

Am riding a VerS. I need some advise and hope any bros here can help me.

1) What is the standard or ideal tires size for my ride? front and back.

2) Is there any recommendation of upgrade kit for front brake system? Like bigger calipers or master brake pump?

Felt my front brake spongy, went to bikeshop to get it service. After service braking is better but still feel i need something more.

3) What rear suspension is good to replace our stock showa?

Felt my rear suspension going soft, worse when having passenger behind.

Thank you :)

1)Regarding tyres,i believe it was just discussed 1 page back.

recommended Dunlop GT Arrow 140-rear,110-front.Dont get oversized ones, tested before.too heavy for pick up - just my own opinion.

2)I think for brake calipers,as long as it is still working fine, think theres no need for any 'upgrade'..most can last for many years. when i bought my bike the front calipers are brembo, back is stock nisin, its works perfectly good for me no matter what brands.

3)I heard from ah pek and agree that, theres a reason why it came with stock showa, not any others.not the best maybe, but very good enough.

i believe that stock goods are still more reliable.

s4 is well known for being hardy bike, think theres no need to invest 'extra' if its working fine.just my 2cents of knowledge,of my opinion.

My concern is your end can which may be affecting it afterall. Moreover,,not sure if your jet set is standard...hmmmm? Anyway, adding X-1R would help in your fc..hopefully if the above said is not true.:sian:

Most of your answer are answered by Hanxx already :)

To add a bit more..your front brake sponginess may be caused by the master pump partially not working well..have it replaced if possible. This is based on what you did for it Olehdeee.

As for suspension going soft..have it rebuild instead of getting a new one or settle for less for a brand like YSS or something like that. KYB at $500+ to $600+ isn't really that good a solution too if you are tigth on budget. Getting a second SHOWA would also set you back another $240 after buying it for say, $250 - $350 as you still have to refurbished it. Go to Teck Thye, look for David..he rebuild SHOWA at $240 with an extra set of rebound rate spacer for your spring :thumb: My rebuild unit already serve me very well for the last 9 yrs. Location : 12 Bradell Road..tell him Ah Pek asked you to come.

Hi Ah Pek..sori for the long time taken to do this posting. Was waiting for my full tank mileage clocked first before writing a post after my two session with u.

First session change of eo+nano+x1r and voltronic

Ok after changing to ur eo+nano+x1r i straight away filled full tank with shell 95 plus abt half a bottle of the Voltronic. Its an old bike so like u said be abit more agressive in d carbon build up clearing. Seriously i felt that its easier to switch between gears. When i first got my 2nd hand ver s i need to put in some effort to change to neutral gear from 1st gear after stopping. Rev wise it is getting easier to increase rpm. Its like getting smoother compared to previous original eo. Speed/rpm is abt 100km/h at 6k rpm. The real plus point is the throttling part...feels smooth while opening the throttle without any lagging feeling. FC wise i just got about 352km before switching to reserves which i think is gd fc value. I was very throttle happy like u said. If the road is clear will go to 120km/h straight away if im certain no tp i try 140km/h.

FYI previously i was riding a new spec III for abt 2 and a half yrs. Sold bcos having a car now so dont haf to pay instalments. FC was abt 390 becos my bike ever died on me at 389 haha...really hated pushing a super4 to the petrol kiosk for a distance of 1km. I watched the mileage meter ticking. So dat means my current 13yrs version s fc is slighter better than my previous new spec3.

Second session doing grounding

Ah pek...its super amazing dis grounding thing. First and foremost i tot my bike response was smooth after ur eo+nano+x1r change but its even smoother and better throttle engine response after grounding. Without grounding i think the smoothness and engine rev was different between the 6 gears. Now i can feel the engine can rev smoothly right from 1k rpm till upwards throught the different 6 gears. Another thing i noticed was that the engine has a longer post-throttle plateau range. I mean even after cutting off the throttle it takes a longer time for the engine rev to drop rpm.

Just filled my tank full again plus the green oil dis time round. Will keep u updated of the fc rate again.

All in all thanks for your help. Next thing i wud like to do is to keep my engine temp down. How can i do that pls? My leg feels like burning sometimes.

Thanks for the in-depth info my friend :thumb: So far so good but have also to understand that Nano is not really a improve FC thingy but to a certain extend as better compression does inprove FC. Nothning last forever and each day our bikes are getting older with wear and tear. Just that what we have done is that we given it the best in maintenance to up keep it.

Yes..tunning the bike cool is good but also must understand that engine operation at heat range temperature at 93 to 98 degree Celsius is most effiecient. The fact being that the eo is hot and viscosity is low and no load on the gears in operation and also hot enough in the chamber for the best of combustion where every inch of horsepower is churn up.

Currently I'm working on having a temperature gauage for monitoring. Never seem to reach 90 degreed Ceksius that easily mannn! Each time I go 120km to 140km, the temperature from 85 degree Celsius drop to 45 degree Celsius in less than 2 minutes..hmm, how to reach 93 I oso dunno...LOL!

Anyway..for your case, not sure if I have done your coolant system for you but getting hotter than ordinary..could be that you are running with a thermostat.

Hi Hanxx,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

1) Cos currently my is 120 140, hence i am confuse as the bike shop say it is ok to use either 110-120 front and 140-150 back. So now i know 110 140 is the correct spec.

2)As i had already serivce both my old black nissin calipers and brake pump, the feel of the brake still feel rather spongy at times. Hence i am looking for choices of either redo the service again at another shop else if budget allow may as well get the upgrade kit.

3)I am not trying to upgrade my suspension but the suspension is old and need to be replace. Hence looking around what you guys will get to replace our old showa. As i know brand new showa can easily cost 1k plus.

Hi hi,

Very interested in the rebuild you recommend.

So $240 is including dismantle and installation? Or simply just the servicing fees only?

Btw, you have any idea how much for servicing front calipers and our brake pump system?

Thanks!
