No such service lah and if there is..its free. Can only do by hearing if the timing chain gone bad..loud "klucking" noise due to slack backlasing of the chain worn links.

Adjust valve clearance?...there is nothing in an S34 for you to adjust..this is an era of "overhead cam" and mostly all using "shims" (like a disc that of a 20 cents coin). If there is a loud 'slapping ticking' sound continously for weeks and weeks from your engine head upper block..it's te;; tale size to replace the faulty one. Valve clearance is only for "rocker Arm" design engine..now this has be replace by "Cam Follower" and that's what you have in ur S4. Whatever..replacing shim or shims inlcuding labour is not cheap...xpect at least $200+ up to $600+...don't play_play or pray_pray anihow what to "valve clearance"....Ha....x3!

Since I got my bike the ticking sound been there. When it's cold can here clearly. As the engine warms up the sounds disappears. But sometimes when riding can here very soft ticking.

"so in order to get rid of the ticking sound, what should actually be done and how much it costs ahpek? "

Heh Thrasher..best to leave it alone and live with the sound if its not that loud and does not affect performance. Its expensive and depend on the number of "shim" you have to replace..unless you want all to be replaced. The noise is made by the shim that has thinner thickness than the othres (total 16 shims..one for each valves). Sometime it does goes away.

Most time..some mech will tell you that eo is too thin or not enough..all rubbish. Its just an irregular wear in thickness of one of the shim or two and bad ones are normally replace. Consider it a tophead overhaul. No price is fixed because if you take it out to do..there are other thinks you may need to replace..like valve springs, spacer etc...ended from $200+ to $600+ and even more.

Live with it if its does not effect bike performance to your expectation. Someday..it may just go away..even so, it will come back.

its the shim... normally its normal when u hear that when eng is cold. cos the eo haven go up to the valve to lub that area so u hear that sound. if the sound still comes on after eng is hot, then shim has worn off. time to do top block overhaul to replace the shim. but mech told me its not dangerous to ride so really not worth to open up the eng just to change that small part.

anyone has got this problem

after your engine is warmed up for half an hour ride or so

you stopped at a traffic light for a min or so

you want to move off, you release the clutch to find the biting point & turn the same amount of throttle, just when you started riding for the day.

bike totally no power to move off, have to turn the throttle so much more before it moves off

the only way to overcome this problem is to blip the throttle before you move off

this happens only at random interval and not always.

can anyone who has this problem now or before advice?

Regards,

kifakw

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

its only when moving off from idle @ traffic light.

when I have some speed be it 5 or 10 km/h or in the midst of changing gears etc, all got no problem

and sometimes before moving off from idle, when i blip the throttle the rev'd go down like 0.3 - 0.5 k, sounds as though engine is about to stall but it never stall though.

What model version is ur S4? This could be due to intermittent electrical problem.

What about the meter type?...is it like those Vtec 1 ones? If not or neither..their are electronic board circuitory inside that cost such behaviour. This is base on past cases of others having such weird problem. Sometime its the supply line to the circuit board that is giving the problem as they copper wire corrodes over period of time. In short..its a pain in the neck thingy when comes to trouble shooting.

it is something like that, just that the fuel meter is not in the middle instead it's at the bottom left of the tachometer

and the words of the digits are not orange in color but white in color instead

other than that, its the meter i'm having right now

so the process to troubleshooting the sudden loss of power is damn long, cruelsome and difficult?

sometimes when i squeeze to the front of the stop line, i am about to move off but totally not moving off due to the loss of power. if i'm the driver, i'll be thinking "squeeze all the way to the front but yet you move off like a tortoise" giving riders a bad name.
