I was driving along Queensway today heading towards Queensway Shopping Centre. At the extreme right lane, was a Super 4 Version S (FQ 657 U)travelling at a speed of 40km/h. I overtook him from the left, and indicated to him to speed up.

Somehow, he got irritated by my actions(which is understandable), and he sped up, and overtook me. I took it within my stride and did not speed up or slow down. However, he started slowing down, and as i changed lane to the left, he turned around and gave me the finger!

The rider had shown signs of being highly possible of involving in road rage cases. If the rider is looking at this, heed 2 advice of mine here:

1. Pls do not start your lovey-dovey talks with your girlfriend on the extreme right lane of a road. I'm sure that you can save all the sweet nothings back into your bedroom. It is more important to be looking what is in front of you, and what is behind you when you are riding.

2. Turning behind and showing me the middle finger with your eyes staring at me might boost your ego a bit. But if a vehicle in front of you jammed brakes to avoid an accident in front of him, not only your ego will be bruised, you and your gf are likely to be bruised badly as well.

i'd just mind my own business.. :p

still haben heard of TP summoning hoggers. in a way it seems to reflect the (lack of) seriousness in the issue. [hoggers most probably wun kill others, it's probably the speeders/ taligators, no?]

who's the one having road rage, 'pissed'??

he could have a problem on the right lane, and there could be a reason for him to ride at 40kmph. so just chill and be patient out there. there's no need to get all upset, ie signaling to him to speed up.

but like all things, expect people to react when being told off. (including you after i've written this)

OK I got one. I really couldn't believe my eyes. Bu here you go:

You know the carparks to Holland V are now converted to gantries? So motorbikes have to pay to use. You pay only upon exit.

So we were happily riding into the carpark, and lo and behold we saw this ang mo on a tiny scooter trying to navigate his way out of the carpark... ON THE PAVEMENT. Despite the bollards and obstacles, he still tried his very best to make sure he could cross the obstacles and ride out of the carpark without paying.

Parking for motorbikes is only 65cts. I really couldn't believe my eyes...

oh yes u might be right to say that he has a reason for riding at 40km/h on the right lane. what i see, is a guy who is turning behind and having a nice lil chat with the babe behind him, and oblivious to the traffic around him.

do let me know if i am wrong to say this, but if u have the intention to ride slow, you should be on the left lane instead of the right. and i believe, if there is a problem with the bike, i wonder how the bike could have sped up at that moment.

i'm sure that with ur riding experience, since u are riding a class 2 bike, u would probably agree to the 2 points i just mentioned.

as for who is the one who has a higher possibility of getting into a road rage? i supposed it's the one who will point a middle finger at other ppl after being asked not to road hog. :)

Yr emotion is understandable and many kind loving pple surely sympathise with yr undesireable encounter.

Next time you deem nec to overtake, just overtooken with joys and do not indicate to other to speed up. It is very dangerous to increase speed unnec as the rider may be having difficulty avoiding object at that time, and maintaining balance. However, if the rider is yr loved one or ppe like me that is asked to speed up, I will squeeze throttle till you never believe like the merry go round, but the rubber of handlebar just goes round and round :D

not saying who's in the right or wrong, but while we're talking about intentions. the rider may have mistaken your waving for him to speed up as your intention to race with him. i mean, logically, how often does one receive motions to speed up? also, just curious, what's your hand signal for speed up? open window and wave the "move along" scooping gesture used by our teeps? or something else? just so i know how to react if i kena from you on the roads. :cheeky:

that road is 50km/h or 70km/h? i have to agree with you on riders/drivers who lovey talk with their passengers/pillion and hogs the lane are thorns in our eyes.

Normally i just sped up, honk and overtake. No point fingers here and there as that person could not be bothered.

If there are ample lanes, i just sped up and get on with my business. Those who hack care for other people road safety can go rot in hell. Cant be bothered

Hmmm... i agree with u that he might have mistaken my intentions. i had waved the "move along" hand signal like what u had said. but well, i guess it wasn't too well received.

perhaps next time i should just do like what u said. mind my own business and just overtake him and not do anything. it probably helps keep my blood pressure low as well! :)

Yr 2 points:gun: is just a lighter tone of emotional kick-off similarly to this rider who also felt  "he turned around and gave me the finger:hungry:!" By waving to others unnec, you might not be able to fully concentrate on the road for the well being of other road users. I think it is wiser not to mention no plate that you r in animosity with in here, not very nice.

Perhaps, you shld practice yoga, meditation and do more charity, in which, it also wld :help: you to evoke yr grace so as to achieve equality, prosperity and progress for the well being of a wholesome society and nation:cheeky: :goodluck:

Agreed on the need to practice yoga and meditation. I guess that my temper isn't too well controlled either.

Nevertheless, I do not think that it is incorrect of me to list out the no plate of the bike. Afterall, I take responsibility of what I say. Unless I am making up stories about what I experienced. Likewise, if I did the same thing as he did, I should be prepared to see this kinda posts about me as well.

Ah well, just forgive. As a driver+rider myself, seen so many incidents until I also usually don't bother to horn people already.

Slow, just overtake. Driving erratically, stay far away. See going to cut into your lane, just give way. Live to see another day and reduce blood pressure. What for make life in SG even more stressful?

That said, I did blast a taxi who DIE DIE wanted to cut into my side in a merging lane, I was on the right and he just chiong in from the left. Still need to test whether the horn works, right?

TS u sure that one 70km/h road? I stay quite near there but I'm not too sure i have saw any 70km/h sign? I'm quite sure the other fella mistaken ur intention for trying to race him.

Next time just high beam him before switching into left lane to overtake. 1, it alerts him. 2, it means that he is doing something wrong thats why u need to alert him that you are overtaking on the left lane.
