Ya, they are cheaper. They quoted me $70 cheaper than NTUC. If you are just buying 3rd Party Fire and Theft, shouldn't have any problem as it is usually for others to claim you only.

Yes if you got comprehensive insurance and self claim, your NCD will be affected. Your premium will also be affected for the next three year. But $400 difference, it no brainer to get Direct Asia.

Actually Government made insurance compulsory basically is to cover 3rd party and not yourselves. Personally I felt the penalty for self claim is to prevent abuse. If there is no penalty, then everyone will just buy a comprehensive insurance and claim something more than the premium yearly. This in turn will affect everyone premium.

Laid up still need to renew road tax? I thought no need? You can try one motoring first. If can, AXS should be able to as well. Else call 1800-CALL-LTA

It depends on what you want. If you just want to cover 3rd party, then just buy as cheap as possible. Cause anyway if the insurer is slow in the claim, it does not affect you anyway.

 

If you want comprenhensive coverage, then maybe paying more for a more reputable insurer might help in expediting your self claim and maybe lesser excess as well.

 

From my understand, once bike under laid up status, you do not need to pay insurance, rd tax and inspection. You only need to start doing it when you are going remove the laid up status. That why I do not understand why you need to pay all these now.

 

Anyway you can pay from any authorised source and LTA will register the payment. But maybe it will take 1 or 2 working days if it is thru AXS.

Make sense then. You still need to do inspection first and insurance, then can do road tax. Online should be able to renew. Remember to tow your bike to do inspection hor.
