walau.. 2 different worlds in terms of power, power delivery and capacity..

Not really a few major similarities...

both naked

ard the same price range,

made in euro.

2 very good looking rides.

As for "2 different worlds in terms of power, power delivery and capacity" it is 998 minus 803 = diff of 195cc only. You forgot to mention 2 different engines! heh heh i not looking for top speed, i mean how fast do you want to go on a naked? I just want enough to get ahead of traffic...there are pros and cons that why poll is created. So...did u vote?

CB1000R inherit CBR1000RR 2007 engine... sexy rear Pro-Arm... since its Honda and CBR engine, I would say maintenance are normal. Got a sporty look, short in length and compact. Dashing electronic instrument panel.

Wow. You consider those major similarities? :slapforehead: And that difference of 195 cc is huge considering their engine configuration and cooling systems, but either one is way more than enough to 'get you ahead of traffic'.

that's why i said 'power delivery' mah. the L-twin's power delivery is very different from an inline-4's. how you know price range the same? Minerva released the price list already? and then comes the difference in the reliability issue.. Japanese bikes are generally known to be more reliable.

A better comparison would probably be the S4RS and not the 796. 796 can only compare to Hornet 9.

btw i didnt vote, cos like i said, i feel they are in two different leagues. you say CB1000R versus Fazer 1, then i feel it's more justified.

cheers bro!

Looks like you and another forumer missed the entire point of me conducting this poll lah. I am just saying if i have X amount of dollars and there are these 2 rides that I like . If you WERE me which one will you buy? inline 4, v4, v twin, parallel twin etc... not the issue, I have ridden all of them. I repeat again i just want to get ahead of traffic and tricky situation when need be and i believe most class 2rides can do that. As to why i put these 2 bikes together is based on these 3 criterias which i believe most ordinary bikers like me will do

1) Price

2) Naked bike

3) Nice Styling (Both Pro arm)

So for ur comparison Fazer 1 Vs CB1R basing on these 3 criteria definitely out. 1) Price diff about 6k between a cb & Fazer. 2) Fairing bike vs Naked??? 3) Styling need i say more.

Your suggested comparison 796 (2010 model) Vs Hornet 900 (out of production since 2005) if poll these 2gther surely kanna flame flame :cheeky:

and finally YES Minerva has released the pricing of M796...go ask Mary..:p

Hehe,I can say the inline4 is a beast and can definitely beat the 796 head on(but i must remember that they are from two different WOrlds hehe),but in terms of comfort i will vouch for the Ducati 796 .Wonder does it have enuff juice than it's older bro 696 to outrun an inline 4 600cc...... SO My Final Verdict CB1000RR

did u get a quote for the duke 796? can share?

i'm thinking of chucking in my 5 yr old cbr6rr for a naked. the head tells me a brand new FZ8. the heart is whispering duke monster 796 or even the streetfighter, but i kinda nervous of finding out the price of these 2 dukes.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

was told the monster 796 amd Hyper 796 are of the same price at 25.8k

thanx for sharing. seems a bit outta my budget, tho i dont yet know how much my '05 cbr6 can fetch as trade-in. prices have realli gone up. i got my bike for onli 18.5k and liter class nakeds were in that price range too.

Hmn... See what u like.

I have 1 friend ride monster 800 and now going to change CB1000R. If u like noisy and pickup faster, can choose monster.

Cb1000R pickup maybe not so fast(never try with other bike), but i can hit 270km without windscreen(ordering). Fc still ok. 17ltr tank, open reserve at 260km with stock exhaust system, now with Akra slip on is 240km open reserve.

See which style u like

2004 - 2006 Honda NSR SP

2006 - 2008 Honda CB400 Vtec III

2008 - Honda CB1000R

I think the hornet6 looks close enough to the cb1000r to nullify a possibility of a cb600r.

Based on certain shared styling features, it is of high likelihood that Honda puts them under the same family like Yamaha does for the fz1 and 6.

For normal road use, the Honda is not going to get away from the Duc. On the track, it may be different....however, most of it boils down to the rider.

As you need to ask yourself....for the same $$$, would you buy a Ferrari or a Merz? Between the 2, I will definitely pick the former.....it's just much cooler; hands down.

If you want to get ahead of traffic, i suggest, the duke...why? Due to its tractability and initial torque...

inline4s are mainly to be played ard mid high to high rpm range.. abit lazy in the lows and mids...

L-twins or v twins or most twins have good low and mid range torque but easily runs out of breath..hence, they're a bit wheezy at high range compared to the inlines...
