We start afresh n hopefully can organise gatherin / outin for Viffers.

Btw , any of u guys ever had gatherin / outin previously ? :thumb:

A few of the guys on the original list have sold their bikes and moved to something else. As for outings, yes there were some; altho getting ppl togehter at the same time can be a challenge. here's pic of 2 prev rides

Hello Guys,

Just to share my experience with the VFR ...

i come from belgium where i had 2 CB600F and one CB900F (hornets ... great fun bikes) ... an as soon as i was here i looked for a motorbike, i found a VFR800 year 2k for 5000 S$ on ebay (from a danish guy who left singapore one year before) ... seemed a very good deal ... and it was at the begining ... riding fine, just had a battery problem after 2 month ...

And after that ... i had a strange noise, need to change sparkling plugs ... and while going home after that ... i broke the engine, left rear cylinder-piston dead ...

And now the bike is for almost 2 months for repair ... (gerry looi tampines)

i had holiday, i went back to belgium then i didn't have time to go often but now I'm tired to ask news, to go there (from Hougang) ...

Now i'm looking for places where they could be used to repair such bike/engine ...

Are you saying your engine seized? Or not firing?

As mentioned by Sino, Boon Siew is the authorised agent for Honda and for such complex problems, it's best to go to them instead of other bike shops. They have ready parts and there's a discount on servicing if your bike was brought into Singapore by them.

Spielvan34,

When you change spark plugs, did you used OWS brand? Last 2 weeks, I saw a gen6 doing full overhaul with every single parts dismantled. He told me that after he changed OWS spark plugs, his pistons seized with the plugs broken inside his blocks.

I dun kw what have he change but total repair damage is abt S$2k.Duration of repair about 2 weeks. He did his repair at Race Werks.

You may want to tow to another place for repair. Boon Siew honda,Mah pte ltd or Loois motor to be safer.

Past rides are already history....

Current ride: FW VFR 800 ABS

Tho BS is the authorised agent, Do not assume they carry stock of all parts, esp previous gen bike. They can of course order in the parts, but this will take time unless you are prepared to pay for express air delivery. My VFR is now in for service to prepare for a coming North Thailand ride and my shop could not get a minor part.

So the slow service problem may exist for any other service shopdue to the lack of readily available parts.

This applies to most other low volume or dated models, not just VFRs.

the viffer mentioned is due the OWS spark plug been drilled instead been plugged in as Racewerks said. The owner of the viffer i also knew him. Sad for him lah.

For me i wil only used NGK or Denso, but check that the part number is correct. Racewerks is gd @ viffer, n BS. But in my opinion i preferred MAH motor. Juz my personal opinion

I do not use OWS on my bike but I use it on my car, it accelerates quite quickly and very good, BUT you can never ride more than 10k on it before you must change it for the cars, because mine had some other issues, the iridium points was totally burnt off, so went back to agent and changed back to original sparks and was ok, now already 25k, no problem, I hear this among other car owners with the OWS plugs.

I think the OWS - racing sp are good, but short life span.

Just from experience from a car - not bike, but it was OWS.

Thanks for sharing. I know a few other cases regarding OWS failures in bikes.

Heard that there are fake OWS in the market, not very sure and dun wish to gamble.

I just brought the laser iridium NGK plugs from FJT,cost $20 per pc.
