Bro, just before u entering corner, close throttle, brake lightly , fully clutch in & kick down gear then slowly release ur clutch .Do not brake while cornering. Slowly open throttle afetr exiting from corner...u shld do just fine...

hey guys.. Just went for my first practical today. I'm stuck in changing gear (from gear 1 to gear 2) and keep forgetting to hold my clutch in gear one if stopping . Anyway, in my booklet they stated under "lesson column", L1, 2, S1. what do they mean ?

_____

L1

2

S1

Seems like everyone is getting it wrong.

This is what it means...

L1 = Lesson 1

2 = Which part of the lesson u last ended/or needs more practice.

You have to see the lesson contents page

(1. Biting point / 2. Mini circuit,1st & 2nd gear / 3. Outer circuit,3rd & 4th gear / 4. Cornering Part II

S1 = Supplementary Lesson 1

So if u see L1, 2(below), S1(below), Means that u were on lesson 1, u ur last practice was in the mini circuit and needs more practice. S1, means u have to repeat ur lesson 1.

Sorry dude.

To be exact.

All slowing down/braking & changing gear is done way before the corner and not before cornering.

I have had students who didn't understand before cornering. Is it 1 car length before? 2 car length? or 3car length? i cant say when. becuz it depends individually on the skill level of the rider, and the speed he/she has on the bike.

Just make sure then when the bike is about to bank. the appropriate gear has already been selected, the clutch has been released completely and that the speed u feel, feels comfortable in the bend without much centrifugal force taking place which will cause ur bike to understeer and overshot ur lane.

Btw, I saw in some thread not long ago saying you no longer in the the motorbike section rite?

That means the last time you guide me during CR somewhere few weeks back was your last few session rite..

I still remember you giving me tips in negotiating the narrow plank..which was one of my weakest....:cheeky:

Yup, I'm now in the theory department.

I hope my tips helped you in your narrow plank. :thumb:

The instructor that briefs to u at the start of the lesson is the 1 in-charge. After he has brought you down to the ground floor, request if he can follow you in your test route riding.

What should I expect for practical 5, 6 and 7?

Should I go for the RC as many times as possible?

When should I book the TP? Now or when I pass practical 7?

Advice will be appreciated!

You are your own best judge. CR is to let you practise your weaker areas and gain confidence. You can only book TP after your final pract, so you don't need to worry when to.

Latter practicals are actual road lessons and a simulated TP test at the last practical.

Anyone can ride a bike. Being a biker, is a state of mind.

Yup..agree with you on this..

As for myself, while waiting for TP on 30 Sep 10

I book 1 CR & 1 RR just to prepare myself for the big day!!!

no drop plank but fail to wait for signal.

other mistakes are:

fail check blind spot at bends

figure 8 12.8 secs

fail signal left after figure 8

delay move off at up slope(cannot remember wether need to wait for hand signal or not)

Wobble during move off.

must go more RC. Hmmm....

Hi all. Just took my lesson 4 at SSDC today. Failed the assessment with 16 points and 1 IF.

During the assessment, after the crank course where you turn right out there's a stop line after the turn, I signaled, stopped, checked back, before making a left turn and checked my blind spot at the same time.

My question is that the IF was given because my left leg didn't go up immediately while I was moving off/turning left. My left leg went up only halfway through the turn. Is this even a valid IF? To me it felt like the instructor was crapping this up to make me repeat the lesson.

from what i know once your bike start moving, in one or the most 2 secs, your feet need to return to the footpeg with toes pointing to the front. in any point a rider dangles his/her feet results in an IF if the instructor or tester saw you and decided not to close one eye...
