heya,

I've been wearing Joe Rocket Street Meteor Boots. Bought them off ebay. So far the waterproofing has been decent but not 100%. The middle portion of my socks tend to get a little wet in heavy downpours. Still, I'm pretty satisfied. With shipping to Singapore, it should cost around $200.

Some specs:

* Leather construction

* 100% waterproof and breathable

* Adjustable ankle strap with metal buckle

* Molded plastic side impact protection

* Padded ankle area

* Reinforced gear shift area

* Reflective patch on heal

I had a pair of forma terrain tx offroad style boots that offered fantastic protection and kept water out well during my ride around Malaysia. Was great to have dry feet. I just got a pair of tcx infinity GTX boots though and they were much more comfortable and waterproof. Haven't worn them yet though.

How much were these, and where can you get them?

Errrmm... if you haven't worn them yet, how do you know they're really waterproof in actual usage? Or do you mean they're labelled waterproof...?

You can get forma from Regina. Price varies depending on bargaining skills and patience. I got them for around 250.

Tcx is waterproof from user reviews. Haven't tried myself. You can search on google for reviews also.

i'm using a $15 rainshoe cover from regina, for daily usage it's enough, u still get to wear ur fav shoe to work and look presentable while riding thru wet weather.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

Yeah, I bought a pair of TCX Airtech GoreTex boots recently after reading reviews about how breathable yet waterproof they are (if you notice, I started this thread when I was hunting for boots). Haven't ridden with them in the rain, but walking around when it was raining already got my socks damp, so I'm not as convinced any more. Other people have posted similar experiences here. Hopefully your model is better...

I used to do that too - just kept the shoe cover in the same bag as my raincoat. That's ok if waterproofing is your only priority. The advantage of riding boots is the additional protection they provide, but there's definitely some degree of discomfort/inconvenience as well. Matter of personal choice I guess :)

i generally stay away from something with "air" in the name. usually if there is airflow...there will be water.

the forma isn't waterproof but the gator and the construction generally kept out all the water during my long rides. i'm pretty certain the infinity will be much better.

btw, i also got some waterproof socks. works FANTASTIC!

Hi,

Been wearing these for about 6 months now :

http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/7029/2009tcxxsquareallpurpos.jpg

They are not waterproof but I was never soaked with them, even when riding in a heavy rain - go figure..

They have the best comfort-look-safety combo I could find. They look great with jeans and casual pants, and perfect to walk around town without looking like Rossi :) I use them to commute, go to work and WE in SG.

The thing I like about these on top of the not so bulky look is they are absolutely discreet: I sometimes forget I have them on, they're not heavy at all, very flexible and breathable and super comfortable.

They have all the necessary protection: toes, ankle, gear lever. This plus a spray of waterproof stuff and you have yourself slick and practical causal riding boots.

Bought them at Motorcycle Superstore during a sale at $80 US.

You definitely want to look around online seeing how the Sing dollar is at an advantage against the US dollar these days .. :)

I also recommend these:

Bought at Motoworld, quoted $200 payed $165 (That's the ang moh price for you, I'm sure if you're local you can get it cheaper)

I got them essentially to ride in MY as I didn't want to spoil my other pair walking off road etc.. They are fully water proof, fit very snugly without being too much, and are bulkier than the above, while still being the less bulky of the shelve.

They feel very heavy duty and reliable, the kind of boots you KNOW you'll keep all your life if you don't run into an accident, cause that's the only thing that will damage them, everything in them screams time resistant.

Very true. I had sprayed my Airtechs with the Motorex waterproofing spray (2 coats) on Monday, and then on Tue I hosed them down with the shower. All it took was 30sec before the inner layer was damp o_O

Learnt my lesson, not buying any more boots with a porous outer layer - the GoreTex structure can only do so much. Leather or synthetic leather will keep out the bulk of the water, making the GoreTex's job that much easier.

TCX Jupiter 2 looks promising. Any idea how much it costs?

Will buying online be cheaper than getting it locally?

Don't know about this particular model but getting the Infinities online will not be any cheaper.

Thanks mate. The A* look really nice, though they're a bit low cut for me. I'd want something with some shin protection as well. Not to mention the price tag... o_O

I am using the army goretex boots. Very good waterproofing in extreme heavy downpour. No shin protection and an inch short on the cutting imho. Other than those i am very happy with it. Plus i like the rugged sole.:thumb:
