Yamaha R125 or Suzuki DRZ 400? (Comments please?)

Im new to this so please excuse me for anything that isnt supposed to be done or whatsoever.. thanks. Just hoping you guys can help me out here..

 

To begin with abit of background,

 

I'm currently one month away from going to get my class 2A, now i'm riding Honda SP according to the techs at a few workshops that ive been to, my exhaust has been.. "corrected" lol.. I was in a rush when I bought my 2B so I got into a $2k price deal and ended up having to spend tons of cash fixing the bike back up, its running good now, an FU plate, good maintainence if I might say so myself..

 

Im wondering, I will definitely go for 2A and subsequently class 2 but should I make the change to 2A? I was initially very interested in getting Suzuki DRZ 400 as I hear the engine runs really well but I have yet to try for myself, having ridden SP for almost a year now, I thought some change might be good. Recently, I saw a Yamaha R125 on the road and it just took my breath away.. EXACTLY like an R6.. The more I considered the more confused I got, considering that R125 will look great (head-tunner no doubt) but being a 125cc with a 4stroke engine, I doubt the power is sufficient especially in comparison to riding an SP150. Then again, a DRZ 400 will adequetely sufice my thirst for power. haha.. I have thought so much that I dont even know if I want to change to a class 2 since the R125 already looks like one and I will definitely be able to SQUEEZE through traffic so much easier.

 

Can anyone please post your comments on this dilema i am in. thanks you!

comparing wif a 2b sportsbike with a 2a supermoto, IMO i rather choose DRZ, easier to squeeze through traffic too, much easier.

FC of drz around 25-30km/L, much more powerful pickup, higher top speed, wide range of accessories, gd communter bike around SG, once a while touring is no problem.

Can put a box too.

Also to add on, 125R is a parallel import. PArts may not be easy to find. It was rumoured that only the engine is the same/similar to the R15 with difference to the displacement.

 

One sales guy at hong leong was telling me this story, donno true or not. He told me actually HL was thinking or ordering the 125R. But when HL see the price and the price for spares. They decide to give up.

 

First, Locally, we don't use much of Spanish Yamaha model. So parts order is not high. Second Spain side always like to send parts via DHL. Something that HL find it crazy. He kinda quote an example of a gasket. He told me usual price of a normal gasket is a few dollars only. Spain side charge almost 20+ for 1 and the frieght from DHL is like 30+. So he say who will pay for a piece of gasket for 60+?

 

He also quote me a example of 1 young chap going down there to enquire the clutch cable for the 125R. Waiting time 1 month. Price? 165. Inclusive of frieght. I ask him got so expensive meh? He say no choice. Earn is a must lah. But it's the part pprice and freight from Spain that make the price like that. That's why HL don't want to bring it in.

 

ANyway, This is just a heard say. True or not I donno.

 

DR400. I would say this is a better choice. Parts is abundant (but not as much as super 4 lah). Assessories is comfirm abundant. Maybrands to choose from. Maintenance wise is comfirm lower than super 4. 1 plug and aprox 2 bottle plus of engine oil only.

R125 shares the most of the parts with FZ150..

R125 in fact can be big bored to 150cc using Yamaha OEM parts..

 

if you wanna wait for CL2, i suggest you keep your SP..

if you wanna try CL2A, DRZ is way to go..

do you know the price range for the drz or the R125? machine price or say buy from shop with everything?

abit confused, you have a thirst for power, yet you not sure if you want to change to c2 since the r125 already looks like a c2 bike? so you want the looks of c2 bike or you want the power of c2 bike?

 

anyway if these are the only 2 you are considering, then get the drz. other than looks, its better in most of the other factors.
