Must be the corner bike shop next to the field in the Yishun industrial estate, it's a black shop.

Mustafa selling 3 worms for $5.

If you patch up in a shop it's $5max.

$5 per patch is for labor cost + worm.

$8 is over charging by more than 50%!

ya bro im aware of tat..but my mistake is i never ask how much before allowed him to fix it..so ill just let it pass..and will avoid the shop.

well, just be glad that your problem is solved, and you paid $3 for your lesson and discovery of the shop, not $300.

Although my cousin live in Yishun but he never go to that mentioned shop because he was "chopped" big time there. We usually go to Unique at Autobay to service our bikes... Cheaper tires with free drinks :)

I was once charged $8 for a tyre patch too. But that was late at night... Around 2 plus AM in the morning. To be able to ride is better than saving the $8 then. Lolx.

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

There are cheap repair kits from dunno where and there are repair kits by Michelin. Michelin repair kits cost $24, but confirm will seal the leak.

$8 is not a lot .. given the kind of situation you're in.. the bike shop could have told you that the hole cannot be mended and request you to change your tires and this always happens..

In future, if your bike is not in a serious condition, go back to your trusted mechanic/bike shop to prevent yourself from being cheated or over-charged by bike shops!

If you find it way too bitter to accept a $3 more than what you thought was market average, please learn to DIY.

I just wasted $10 for the 3 minutes reading this post (my hourly rate is $200, you don't like it, please find other reader's rate to read).

On a serious note, you said it, it's an Apek shop and it's $3 more than what you thought it was and you dont like it.

Now you want us to avoid the shop?

Not a strong justification to wreck someone's ricebowl there mate.

I paid $9 to patch my leaking tyres too....at a Shell Auto.... I knew it is more expensive but by a few dollars. Rather do it then wasting more fuel/money hunting for another one and if unlucky....stuck with a flat tyre and gotta chnage the whole tyre!

Posted

everyone has his own share of whats expensive and whats not. I had my own share of getting the tire fixed from $5 -$10 . and i also diy before and realise that sometimes paying a small amount to get someone to do it hassle free is easier in situations. Its $3 to learn something for yourself about the shop and also learn a skill from the apek..(next time can diy yourself). i am sure the feeling will go away soon. Till then, take it that its part and parcel of riding and maintenance. Murphy law :anything goes wrong will go wrong...so be prepared when that happen cos it will definitely cost more than what you pay to rectify.
