Anyone know if it is possible to find an old R80GS or R100GS in Singapore?

Anybody here have problem crossing the Causeway?

A few weeks back I went through the Causeway checkpoint, first time after almost 20 years, and I find that my bike with panniers can barely squeeze through the lanes on the Singapore side! All sweat and holding back a long queue of "cubs" behind me.

I usually go via the Second Link but as I was following my friend to Pasir Gudang track, it is nearer to go through Causeway. What a nightmare, and I can smell my clutch burning from those half-clutch maneuvers.

No panniers= No Problem

With panniers= abit of a problem but no worries

Like me staying in woodlands, and after a trip and if im back alone (with kaki, via 2nd link) i will usually ride all the way back to the causeway(logically its very near my house).

No point sweating it out and burning ur clutch plate so ur boxes dun hit the side gates or the ica camera cos those lanes are NOT meant for big adv bikes.

My way, ride all the way to car lane and give passport. The officer will give a "shocked" look so u give a "blur" face.. And of cos explain with ur panniers theres no way to use those mini bike lanes.

So u will be asked to head on to the office in front and get ur passport scanned. They will ask u a couple o things, just be truthful and they will understand esp when they see our bikes esp the GSs'..

All in all abt 5-10 mins and your out of the checkpoint.

i will never never use the woodlands checkpoint, unless the tuas bridge has collapsed!feel so silly just to squeeze with the cub chais & they scratch the panniers in the progress.!

Which lanes..? The 2 conjoining ones before the booth..? Or at the booth...?

Before the booth, at the booth and the worst part is the long and narrow lane that goes to the "Biometric" booth that I unwittingly took. There were pillars with metal guards on one side, and rails on another. I guess I have less than 1cm clearance on both side of my panniers. It was looooong! Hardly any place to put down my feet.... last time for me through the Causeway.

There are usually 2 models for these mudguards be it MudSling, Maier etc etc..
