hi ..interested in getting the new 2013 GS 1200...any positive and negative remarks?...thks

Nothing negative, some minor problems which easily already rectified. Nice bike better throttle respond than the air cooled GS but still below its Japanese counter-parts. After all is still a boxer engine. More electronics than the air-cooled, including cruise control (ideal for long trips). If you are not a liquid cooled engines fun and their maintenance, I could suggest you to go for a GSA. Both bikes are nice on their own rights, I personally prefer the GSA as I already have another liquid cooled bike and I do not want to look after a second one.

My personal advise to you is that, go for the R1200GS LC.

Cheers!

P.S.: R1200GS Air Cooled are no longer in production.

Unless you wanna wait for the GSA LC which I believe will be out quite soon. Hopefully early next year so can start "molesting" the bike at PML already :lovestruck:

Hi Chee Yong...thanks for the kind advise. Yes i wanna get the LC. According to my sources...for the minor problems, the first 3 early batches in SG was recalled and rectified and now the subsequent batches problem has been rectified. Yes GSA is surely the ultimatum but it is kind of big on me ( and yes the $$ too... hehe). The new GSA is coming in anytime soon...but definitely with a heavy price tag.

The BMW had a re design of the entire engine thus maintenance will be cheaper, like the wet clutch. Every owner knows that changing the present dry clutch is a killer. Else all others should be the same. If you are really interested go down to PML talk to the sales people there. Look for Paul Cheong. Btw they do have a demo unit for test ride. I haven't ridden yet cos don't want to self inflict poison. Cheers

Stupid question: my f800gs is due for an oil change and I mistakenly gotten a mineral oil that is not JASO MA, it's ACEA A3/B3. Can I go ahead and dump it into my wet clutch? Been asking around and been getting mixed comments. Some said its only meant for dry clutch, some said its still mineral oil which is practically safe for all clutches.

i would say jump the gun do it. just do your next oil change at an earlier interval.

The Air cooled GS 1200 took almost 8 years to refine since its launch.

Get the Air cooled first and ride till COE ends. Then upgrade to the then refined GSA LC.

Maybe that time Air cooled GS is an icon , can sell for higher price

Thanks man! Needed that push. hahaha

and also to add to the current topic, i would go for aircooled boxer. think that's the essence of riding a boxer GS. hardy, cant go wrong with cooling/ coolant/ radiator. makes you feel like you can go practically anywhere :) also its the one with spoked rims too.

There's already 3 batches? That means PML must have missed mine for the recall. No recall so far for mine which is the 1st batch

Hi ktm77.

No problem just the usual maintenance for coolant radiator and so on, as any liquid cooled engine.

Air cooled is now an old engine. I do not think anyone will pay extra for it ever.

oh ok...as expected u have to take into consideration of the liquid cool maintenance. But i guess it wont be as often as engine oil change....same like car.

ACEA A3/B3 are fine too. Their performance/quality classifications A3/A5 tests used in Europe are arguably more stringent than the API and ILSAC standards.

Don't get panic.

Hey guys. Just got myself a 2009 1200 gsa. I read quite abit and the bike has a tyre pressure sensor. Can i still change tyres at any bike shop or do i need to only change to specific shops that knows how to change gsa tyres? Sorry for being such a noob as i previously rode Japanese bike. And also, planning of getting Michelin anakee2. Rough idea how much it cost?. Thanks a million guys!
