Hi all,

Happy new year. My 2011 resolution is to get my 2B and in my research so far, my #1 preference for a bike is the Aprilia RS 125 (2 stroke)

However, Aprilia has recently announced a RS4 125 (4 stroke) bike scheduled for 2011 release. I hope Aprilia is not going to stop production of the RS 125 anytime soon.

So I’m wondering if I would still be able to get a brand new RS 125 say around March/April this year?

Thanks!

The RS4 125 will replace the RS 125. Believe that it's quite possible that it would be discontinued.

In my opinion, it's quite an expensive bike to own, machine price plus COE and insurance will bring it to about 11k or 12k. Almost the price of a 2A bike. Parts for Aprilla is also expensive.

HL Cycles is pushing the RS125 quite hard, one of the guy working there is selling his own RS125. You should go and have a chat with them.

Go book with HL Cycles lah, put a down payment. Think they should be able to fix you up with a new RS125 when you pass. Or you can arrange with them to buy the bike first, and collect it when you pass. If you got enough money, I'm sure alot of things can be worked out. My sense is that they are trying very hard to clear stock for RS125. You should check with them to see how's the stock for RS125, when is the new RS4 coming, then you will know the time frame for RS125.

I still think buying a RS125 is very bo hua. Insurance charge P-plate riders about 1k++ for sports bikes.

Don't know how much you intend to put in as down payment, but the interest rate at bikeshops is about 5%, so every $1000 you owe bikeshop, you have to pay them $50 per year. Say you put in 2k down payment, balance 10k. You owe the bikes shop $500 per year just for interest.

RS125 have crease production..the RS4 is in the making....whatever balance stock in Singapore will be the last few batches... if TS is so hell bent on a smoking RS125..all i can say is wise choice...soon u will own a piece of motocycling history... 34 world championship is something every manufacturer would love to boast about but cant...the king of 125 for more than a decade.. if u can afford the best why settle for anything less...

HL cycle sold(yes he sold it off already) his almost 2 years old bike at 11K with great mods in there... the bike has value ,ppl who buys the RS125 knows and appreciate what the machine is all about... how many 125 can match up with a 400 on the track??? answer ONE (and we all know who it is).

HL is not pushing hard for the RS125,they pushing hard for every bikes they have in stock..its business..every sale counts..

there is no such thing as "bo hua" if there is...Aprilia,MV Agusta,Husqvarna or cars like Ferrari n Lambos all close down centuries ago...

this is a race bike for the road not the other way around....and like any machine built for speed, the maintainance is higher than the daily run of the mill machine..

different strokes for different folks..

Every new 2B riders' wishlist is a RS125..reality is the only thing that prevents them from achieving it.

btw a new RS125 at 11-12K?? i dont think so...prepare for it to be much more..

owning a RS125 is an early preparation practise for fatherhood...u gotta care for her like a baby... :p

i think theres still quite a number of unregistered RS125 here..and Im aware its selling fast once they know it be the last smoking king from Aprilia...

i do hope u still manage to get a new RS125 once u pass..goodluck on yer test :)

Parts for the RS are still available from shops like PJME. Pistons are still being manufactured by 3rd parties. Not chiong ones from Malaysia but good ones like Wiseco, Wossner and Vertex. The block will be from Mitaka. Avoid Mitaka pistons though, they are of poor quality. A full bottom end rebuild is available too from PJME.

Ride a 2 stroke before they disappear into the pages of history.

If it's going to be discontinued, im sure Aprilia would make a official announcement.

i think it was made when they intro the RS4 125 and mention nothing about their 125 smoker...

for example Husqvarna also intro their 2011 SM4 125 and same time showed their new 2011 SM125S in their line up...
