What I mean by hard is that .... you once said that the jettings for stock carb is hardly available in Singapore .........

Where did you guys go to do carb jettings and tuning for mikuni?

yup but I am not too sure if anyone had try to source from overseas if parts are available..

toking abt swapping carbs there are a number of issues we had to take note of.

1)Being able to get watever carb u had intend to use to be fitted nicely on ur bike wif all proper working conditions meaning enuff clearance, throttle cable n stuff like dat which are quite a number to list.

2) a carb is nv a plug n play item on every bike especially all the different jets supply by the carb u change will never be suitable on ur ride thus in order to get started, u will require a starting guideline to begin ur setting with which will best come from ppl who had experience with the same carb on the same bike n from there u can further fine tune it on ur own.

(so judging from whoever had change carbs on runners b4, they MIGHT not wanna provide u with these details or u will also hav to spend time searching for it or if not try everything yourself n take a long long time or the shops where u change the carb at might not even know the starting guidelines)

I do not really agree that workshops will be able to perfectly tune ur ride as they do not see you ride the bike n they do not ride the bike enuff to be able to set it up perfectly..(I had post an article b4 on how race mechs do tuning for bikes which is something u cannot find in Kallang becoz they had no time n u might not pay enuff for them to do it for u till the "perfect" stage..so it is not dat they dunno how to but are they willing to do it anot)

3. last but not least availability of parts required for these settings...can u find them easily in Singapore is another headache...if u tink that setting carbs r juz a matter of changing main jets n tunning ur a/f screw then u r very wrong.

Despite the many challenges we had to face, if we can get it done, it will bring us this hard to explain satisfaction and additional knowledge gain in the world of motorcycling

You said that tuning is not all about changing jets and tuning the a/f ratio. Then, what are the steps or methods that are missing, then? Please explain exactly what did you do to tune your carb. All the websites that I surf-ed tell me the same things, which is, to change to proper jet and fine tune the ratio. The most that so-called in-depth ones explain only the effect of the surrounding air on fine tuning, like humidity, air temperature, altitude, etc. I'm still curious of what you said.

ya see your milage better as what everyone does.

eee eee sound is because the stock brake pad is quite hard so in a way the way it is.dont bother to change it till u hear other sound like metel scratching.

he's trying to say ... he spend so much time and money for the perfect tune for his bike.. why shd he tell u? wuahahahahaha! juz kidding.

wat he say abt bike shop not so helpful, in this part, is bcoz its a tedious process. unless u haf the time and good money and oso good repo with a bike shop .. hey why not.

it will better if u get to meet spy in person, tat is if u manage to get him in the 1st place (very busy man). hahhahaha! there's also ppl like sheep, controversy, ts1,etc.... who's really into tuning their ride to their specific needs.

btw spy, when's ur coffee session? hahahaha!

"if u tink that setting carbs r juz a matter of changing main jets n tunning ur a/f screw then u r very wrong."

Please dun be mistaken...I am juz trying to say if most of us thinks dat only changing MAIN JETS n TUNING of A/F ratio will do the trick then we will be wrong.

In tunning a carb we have to understand how different parts of the carb will affect the gas delivery..No parts or jets acts independently but rather they work together to deliver the best mixture to the engine n how we can specifically target wat parts to adjust or change at correct throttle openings and ensure all the transistion from all across the range is as smooth as possible.

Thus we will have to understand on wat are the different possible parts we have on our selected carb n availability of all these parts to help with our settings.

And of coz whoever is setting the carb is experience and good enuff they can even fine tune it as according to the rider's riding style or targeting at the race's requirement n stuff.

As for me I juz a very fresh begineer trying to get things right.

Look at ur cooLant cap. there is a number indication on it. if u're using the oLd originaL one it shouLd state 0.9. the new standard issue if i'm not wrong.. is 1.1. it shouLd be abLe to take higher pressure. think a new cap costs abt 12 bucks.
