The switch costs $12 and the installation costs $18... Total is $30...

thanks bro

Yo bros, this is the second refill for my bike after it came out...

The indicator blinks on 231km.

1) Is it normal for a running in bike?

don't know if its normal but mine blinks around >270+km during run in, but i ride mostly along expressways, not exceeding 5k rpm (~80kph). another possibility for difference is... i seldom "shoot" out at pickup

2) Will changing the engine oil and plugs improve the FC?

yes, but use mineral eo for run in or the amount of friction is insufficient for the moving parts to sit in desirably. after run in, use of better eo (semi-syn or fully-syn) should improve fc

3) What other things that you all do to attain higher mileage?

grounding, current stimulator (e.g. PA2, Revtec, VS), etc.

most effective of all... riding style

4) Do you all mod anything?

top box, PA2, grounding, hazard light & electric horn considered as mods? :D

Anything else to enhance the FC? Will adjusting the rpm (ideling speed) work?

Where can it be done? Boon Siew?

see reply to (3) above. don't think lowering idling rpm would do much coz bike is not idling most of the time

yes... confirm better pick up. and "better" FC to come...

i tried VPower... got a little difference in power but didn't notice improvements in fc

Err, I pumped 98 from Esso... Filled to the brim for first pump...

i tot esso only have 2000, 5000 & 8000

dun have to put the volt stabliser. then wat for u do grounding? i actaully for my bike to return to me then go do grounding.

Err... You are saying that grounding no need V.S right? So I can get my grounding done at Tai Hin? :cheeky:

All EFI bikes, the idling speed can be done on your own. its being taught how to do it in your user manual. but if u think its better to do it at boon siew, then go there loh. dun think they will charge u. to me, its better to learn touching your bike yourself to learn more abt your bike. its actually very easy. all my friends riding EFI bikes, tune the idling speed themselve.

I will agree very much on this point then... Need to start to touch my own girl... Cannot always let ppl touch... Trial and error... If really cannot make it then see doctor lor... Haha...

I believe it will be quite simple de right? :cheeky:

Err... Yesterday I pump back the petrol to 12litres (When the blinker starts blinking)... So will there be still room to go in?

Now I noe what you mean by better FC also...

Anyway, I'll revert back to Shell 98 then...

Errm, the total tank is 16litres inclusive of 2.5litres reserved right? :cheeky:

Yeah. Got it from Loois actually.

I believe Boon Siew only got Blue color left.

Hope to complete the initial 100km + 400km run in by this week.

After that will install and test the voltage stabilizer (similar but not PA2) from my friend Clifford of K & T. Shall see got improvements or not.

hi Kris Rider,

this is very helpful information :thumb:

it'll be great if total distance clocked before tank empty is known for both cases... can help estimate FC

estimating FC using the on-paper reserve level and info above gave pretty bad FC numbers:

. 1. FC ≈ 57km/3.5L ≈ 16.3km/L

. 2. FC ≈ 41km/3.5L ≈ 11.7km/L

my SW4 is 2006 Euro model (

. 1. best FC: mainly expressways at 80+kph, 314km before indicator blinks

. . . FC ≈ 314km/12.5L ≈ 25km/L

full tank 16L ≈ 25x16 ≈ 400km

. 2. normal FC: city & expressway riding, 275km before indicator blinks

. . . FC ≈ 275km/12.5L ≈ 22km/L ... full tank 16L ≈ 22x16 ≈ 352km

average FC ≈ (25+22)/2 ≈ 23.5km/L

threshold with 15L total (1L buffer) ≈ 23.5x15 ≈ 352.5km

threshold with 2.5L reserves (1L buffer) ≈ 23.5x2.5 ≈ 58.75km

seems like pushing 60km after blinker appears is pushing my luck a little :cheeky:

I just read this... So is this how we calculate FC normally?

From what I know, rear suspension don't bottom out even with pillion can liao.

For better cornering should have a soft rear and hard front (but not too hard), aboh the corners will be slow and out of line.

How to calculate Fuel Comsumption (FC)

dont bother when it start to blink.

Mine now blink at 160km, use to be 200km.

Go by a test method you can follow.

You can start anytime.

1) Put bike on main stand.

2) Insert fuel nozzle all the way. (Any fuel grade will do)

3) Press the fuel pump to pump (use the middle level so the flow of fuel is slower) until the nozzle automatically stop by itself. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REFUEL.

4) Set your A TRIP to "0km" before moving off.

5) Ride as per normal.

6) Make sure you hit about 200km before your next refuel.

(The longer the distance, the lesser is the error)

7) Put bike on main stand.

8) Before refuelling, take note of A TRIP. eg. "180.2km"

9) Insert fuel nozzle all the way.

10) Press the fuel pump to pump (use the middle level so the flow of fuel is slower) until the nozzle automatically stop by itself. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REFUEL.

11) Take note of pump volume. eg. 8.65L

Distance travelled/Fuel volume = Fuel Comsumption.

In this case, eg. 180.2/8.65 = 20.8 km/L or 21km/L

Do this method for at lest 3 times. This is to minimise errors again in the test methodolgy.

(FC1+FC2+FC3)/3= Ave FC

This one even better way to calculate~

Suspension:-

What I did for my previous x9 (me 78kg):

Rear sag at lowest setting (10mm sag without rider cos I seldom pillion)

Front fork at 170ml fork oil (sag at 35mm with rider on)

Can check 'how to' from this link http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67983

Its prob for street bike but think scoots setting shouldn't be far away.

Will check my SW reading when I get it.

Fuel Consumption:-

When reserve light blink, top up 12L.

When reserve light blink again, check mileage travelled.

Therefore FC = mileage divided by 12L

yes T.H. do grounding for $35

Err... Yesterday I pump back the petrol to 12litres (When the blinker starts blinking)... So will there be still room to go in?

once its full, its more or less full... i see some pp shake their bike for petrol level to go down but i don't really bother

what i tried to do earlier was to get an estimate of how far further my deepblue can run (before bottoming out) after the fuel indicator blinks... based on my own riding pattern. this will let me know my ride better and when i MUST hit the gas station before having to push her

Hi ! guys, I got 2 things 2 bring up. First I notice a wire connected at the engine. Not sure wat the wire is 4, Is it use 4 V belt indicator ? I'm thinking of wrapping it with tape to prevent water splashing in, or shall I leave it as it is.

Second thing, just bought a new Xena Disc lock alarm XE15, but unfortunately cant fit and lock the front or rear disc cause the brake disc is small. I thought of exchanging to a smaller disc lock not sure if the shop allow it. Any help and advise from experienced swinger greatly appreciated. Thanxs.
