Hi everybody, when riding those class 2 sportbikes like R1, CBR1000, etc must one really bent towards until so jialat until the back is nearly straight? Coz I am deciding one whether to get a streetbike like the kawa Z1000 or sportbikes like the one mentioned.

Ok, I used to ride the kawa kips (2B 150cc bike), I find the posture quite ok, dun need to stretch too much. So if compare the 2B sportbikes (kips, sp, etc) to the class 2 one, is the posture really a great difference?

Thanks a lot.

Yes, it is a big difference. If you compare the handle bar height, the handle grip of supersports class motorcycles is usually below the fuel tank and the seat is much higher. They're built in mind for rider to be riding in a proned position.

You really need to think twice if you are getting a sportsbike as a daily commuting tool.

Can't compare 2B bikes to class 2 bikes.

The length of the tank, the size of the bikes. Just take one look and you already know why.

Even between class 2 bikes, the reach is different.

One of the easiest postures on a CL2 sportbike is the CBR954. Nice short reach from seat to clip-ons. The 03-05 R6 is also quite easy on the back.

Oh getting complicated. There are still some bikes that have easy postures.. Still have some hope. :) So any idea if the kawa 636 model or 1000cc have easier posture?

Class 2 sports bikes all have postures that are heavily inclined towards track riding. There is only the least uncomfortable, rather than most comfortable position.

If comfortable riding posture is high on your list, take a look at the VFR.

Past: KDX200, LC4 400, LC4 620, GSXR750WR

Present: CBR900RRY, Gas Gas EC250, XR250L, XR250RV, XR400 (motard-ed), NX650 Dominator

Haha strange. u must be doing something very wrong. I used to ride kips for long hours, in my personal view it's almost as comfortable as riding a streetbike. Unless SP and Kips are very different, then i am not so sure. Just thinking why can't they have 2 version of class 2 sportbike, I mean with more comfortable posture for daily riding and one as mentioned for people who always go track. Just a thought though.

Kawasaki superbikes are ALL built for track and ONLY track. You can even read the official Kawa advertisements. "Our bikes are built to win races and bring back trophies." They thus have the most "race" posture - possibly worse than Ducati.

So far the most comfortable superbikes are CBR954RR and GSXR1000.

Please do not flame me for saying this, but most of the 2B sports bikes resemble mini sport-tourers. The clip-ons are above the triple clamp. The footpegs are low. Only Aprilia RS125 has clip-ons below the triple clamp and high footpegs - and it is also the best-handling class 2B bike on track by far.

There are superbikes that have race and tour versions. Some examples are...

CBR600F4i Sport vs CBR600F4i Touring

CBR600RR vs CBR600F4i Touring

VTR1000SP1 / SP2 vs VTR1000 Firestorm

R6 vs R6S / YZF600R

ZX6R / ZX6RR vs ZZR600

That's probably true only for the recent years Kwakers. From the 2003 ZX6 onwards.

The old ZX-6R and 9R were similar to the pre-929 Fireblades. Sport tourer like....

True that. Thanks for your correction. :thumb:

I've ridden a pre-636 ZX6R. It's riding posture is not very hardcore at all. In fact, it was more comfortable than my CBR.

IMHO, riding posture is not a factor I would consider when getting a bike, especially a class2 one.

If bending your back is really that bad, don't get a sportsbike or a sports-tourer.

Enjoy.

I continue this thread to ask about something else. Today I went Queenstown shop shop, trying to look for the Z1000 kawa bike, a mechanic told me to avoid all kawabikes, the reasons are the spare parts are almost impossible to get in Sg and the kawa agent in Sg is bankrupt/collapsed?

Please verify his comments anyone.:giddy:

posture is actually not very much different but becos the size of a Class2 bike is longer, higher, wider so you will naturally need to reach further. If you are a lanky fella, it's ok but if you are a little short then a Class2 sportsbike may not be that comfy for everyday riding.

Then again if you are too lanky, it is also not comfy due to the height of the footpegs.

MAny factors to consider. Always buy a bike that you can fully control in all situations. Dont be like some lame girl rider on an R1 but admitting that until today has a fear and problem of making a simple U-turn and yet likes to speed.

The answer is not true.

but Kawa parts are a little more expensive that's all.

Don't forget the longer lead time to get certain spares....

Thanks a lot.

There is alot of load on the wrists and elbows when you ride a CL2 sports bike. That takes some getting used to... abit uncomfortable initially. They don't have handlebars but rather they have clip-ons.

But you will be thankful for the posture when you go above 160 kmh and the wind starts to push on your upper body.

At 200 kmh plus... you will be even more thankful that the bars are low enough for you to crouch down below the windshield and tuck your arms in.

These crotch rockets are meant to be ridden in this manner. Just got to live with it or leave it.
