Remember passing the TP test gets u the license, but not the skill of riding.

There's still alot more to learn after passing.

Hey fellow riders. I would like to say Thanks, I appreciate the things u guys have commented abt me. I mean the good stuff. I like teaching and helping out whenever i can. As a Human Being, Friend & Instructor, its defitnately encouraging for me and will push me to go on teaching.

If there's anything good u wish to comment for other instructors at SSDC,

U may state it here and i'll pass the word over to them, and i'm sure that when they feel appreciated, and they will go on to do their best.

Or u can also write to the school, and we'll get to see the letter too.

:thumb: Congrats to those who pass recently.

Passing rate was amazingly 72%. 60/83

Ride safe pple. Yesterday's news, A new rider just bought a bike, a passed away on the same day.

And recently, a new rider from SSDC just passed abt month ago. My colleague saw her with Stiches on the forehead, blueblack eye and broken front teeth.

Still new to this forum. I am one of the 60 student who passed on Thursday. Must really thanks all the instructor who taught me as I am a real slow learner. I am really grateful to the instructors and appreciate their effort and comments during lessons and circuit revisions which help me to improve.

To all who are still taking lessons, listen to the instructor comments during and after lesson is very important. Reflect on what they have said when you are at home. I would say "understand" your mistakes is very important. Also it is important to have this mindset, "they are here to help you to pass". They are actually picking on your mistakes rather than you.

To those who are waiting for TP, I feel that going to revision is vital. Most of us who passed on that day had went for quite a number of revision. Some (including me) had went back even twice on wed.

Btw Corse, can I check with you how much does it cost to sign up for the defensive riding course? I am enlisting soon, thus hope to go for it before my enlistment. Sorry ar, that time forgot to ask the counter as I am too tired after the TP test due to lack of slp (Woke up 3am on the test day) as I am too excited.

I had a great time learning in SSDC and hopes everyone would enjoy the process of learning at there too. :)

if i'm not wrong I saw u driving your bike into SSDC today morning when i attend the 8.15 slot... :)

If u meant Sunday, Yes it was me. But if its fri or Sat, then its not me.

Hey Corse, i think u passed my practical 8 1 year plus ago hehe~!! Anyways, the fat fat chinese instructors and the old old one (short & also chinese) wearing specs is my favourite instructors~!!! help me say hi though i dun think they know who i am hahahaha~~!! Anyways, it was real good experience at SSDC. Though strict, but it prepares us for the roads outside. Thanks and cheers!

I also like the lessons by the fat fat Chinese instructor when I did my 2B. Very funny.

I remember his lessons during circuit, whenever I make mistake he always say "Da Ge Ah... "

And always want me to throttle more.

Even during briefing also told us to throttle more when we are outside.

"Go too slow also dangerous. People speeding cannot slow down in time will still bang into you. And when you go too slow outside on the roads you sure get 'Makan' and need to E-Brake, so it becomes even more dangerous if you go too slow."

Thinking back on what he said, it's very true.

Motorcyclist are the nicest people on the road, try not to kill us.

Well, since Julian is here would also like to say HI! I'm taking 2A now, went for first lesson last night and some instructors were like "you passed 2B already meh???" It took me almost a year to finish 2B (my booklet going to expire liao) so it goes to show how SLOOOOOW a student I was. I think all the instructors see my face until sick liao.

Anyway, SSDC instructors all have their good points in some way. Some like to scold people (don't say who lah) and have a permanent black face, but ultimately, maintain a good attitude and don't take their scoldings personally. I believe that when these instructors scold us, they really want us to learn. I only hope that some of them will be more patient; some of us are really very scared of falling and dropping bike and thus we tend to be quite timid. It's not that we don't want to follow instructions but we really need time to slowly pick up the skills.

I really enjoyed my time at SSDC and I'm happy to go back and learn under these instructors again. Well except that for 2A the instructors have very high expectations... it was so scary to ride a CB400 when all the riding I did on the past year was a scooter and a cub! Straight-away have to do S-course, crank course, e-brake and (ARRGH) bumpy course... :giddy:

Yeah Mr Chong is a very funny guy. Last night kept yelling at me when he realised I was taking 2A, hahaha...

Mr Wang - very stern leh, never smile one.

Rafiq - very friendly and patient guy.

Mr EngHC - quite a mischievous instructor, kept scolding me for not buying a proper bike after passing so now struggling with 2A...

Mr EngHG (brother issit?) - another very helpful instructor. Thanks for parking my bike last night because I was sooooo tired after the lesson.

Mr Teo KW - very fun and earnest guy.

BTW is Akira-san still with SSDC? I loved to watch the instructors practice their courses and often wish I could do the same. Sigh...

Nope Akira-San is not around. The next Japanese guy is Yamashita-San.

He helped me alot on Pasir Gudang. Very Experienced on the Race Track.

Hi Julian, I am now back to a regular to SSDC for my class 3 and class 2A lessons. I keep seeing you around at SSDC but never found the time to say hi because Im always late for my lessons! heheheh!

If you forgot, I am the one that correctly guessed who you were when you had the picture of your back as your signature! Maybe tomorrow when I go for my automatic car lesson at 1520, I say hello! My friends friend who is taking 2B at SSDC was also telling me and my friend that there is this instructor Julian, very friendly and easy to talk to, says you are one of the best instructors there :thumb:

Posted

Wa Julian seems v popular here hor. Lol, I have been trying to noe who is corse, whats his real name and how does he look like 3 weeks ago. Until When i finally noe his name, lookout for him and finally saw him. and he was one of my rc instructor. Dint say much to us. Cuz is rc but still he aid in the que i ask.

Like why is my left turn better den my right turn and stuff.

Before i enrol into ssdc i was asking all around , which driving centre is faster and what are the pros and cons of every driving centre. When I finally enroll into ssdc, cuz its nearer to my house. I experience how riding a bike was like. When ppl now ask me, which driving centre should I go in order to get my lic faster.

I will tell them all driving centres are the same.

Its about the rider, not the driving centre. =)

Pilllion riding is compulsory from L4 to L7. This instruction was passed down by Traffic Police. All Driving schools have implemented more pillion riding practices.

Don't be surprised if sometime in the future, next time pillion riding will be tested duing Traffic Police Test.

I dont think we'll write pass pillion riding on the booklet and fail circuit lesson.

We'll just write 14 on ur booklet. Pillion riding can't fail, its just a lesson for u to get used to it. So... Pillion riding is required for these lessons. If cannot pillion, u wont fail. BUT, if u refuse to go for pillion riding, then we may have to repeat ur Lesson.

Advice to pass Lesson 4. Hmmm..

1) Stick to the test route. Don't go off track.

2) Meet all requirements of every course;

>Slope - Signal right, Chk Back inwards, don't roll back.

>Fig 8 & Crank Course - below timing requirment.

>E/Brake - Speed at least 30km/h, Dont close throttle early and eye pt

don't look down when braking.

>Narrow plank & P/Slalom - within the time requirements.

3) No immediate failures, e.g;

>Slope - stoping behind a car.

>Fig 8 & Crank Course - striking kerb

>E/brake - over the white line, or falling off.

>Narrow Plank - Falling off.

>P/Slalom - Striking A Pylon/Cone.

>Fail to give way to vehicles right of way.

>Fail to stop at StopLine

>Footed when turning.

4) Safety check's, Check Back's & Blindspots.

:faint: Phew.... That was a long message. LoL

hey bro corse, thanks for the advice. so for the lesson 6 part 1 and 2 with the chop 'pillion riding' is just for 'getting use to it' ? For eg if cant excute properly you guys will still clear us? and yes for my prac 4 you guys wrote 14.

Its kinda ridiculously impossible for me to do the pillon.

And from wht i see, then whts the diff between prac 4 nd 5 ? aint they the same concept ?

no offence, just a curiosity inside me ( :
