I made some enquiry on defensive riding from SSDC, which they mentioned during 2b graduation. Heard enlisted boys will need this prior they can ride the bike into camp.

attached just for reference. anyone keen we can go together when u pass....

Defensive Riding course at SSDC

i feel its important it would benefit ryders, how to ryde defensively, react to unforeseen situation or condition.

I should take up after my CLS2, safety is our top and only priority!

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

My sincerest thanks to the motorcycle section of SSDC for their attention and dedication to teaching us students the finer art of riding (or more correctly, of passing the TP test!) Passed my 2A yesterday.

I've read many complaints about SSDC instructors being unreasonable, too strict, trying to make money for the school, and so on. I feel that these criticisms are quite unfair as my experience with SSDC showed that the instructors actually do stick to a very clear standard. If you meet that standard, you pass; if you don't, you fail. In fact, I am wondering if this "customer focus mindset" that SSDC prides itself on is making students lose respect for the instructors.

I was a super slow student and I guarantee would drop the bike at least once every lesson. Even so, never once did the instructors "suan" me or "insult" me. They failed me of course, but would also take pains to explain where I could improve.

Just to show how slow a student I was, here's my training record:

Lesson 1 - 6 times

Lesson 2 - 1 time

Circuit Revision - 5 times

Lesson 3 (assessment) - 1 time

Circuit Revision - 4 times

I highly recommend circuit revisions especially for 2B riders. Please don't stint on this because it will show when you take the test. Also, please watch out for things like wobbling. I got many points for wobbling for both 2B and 2A, although I got none for the courses. If you do well for the courses but got too many points for things like wobbling or failing to check blind spot, don't you think it's very bo hua (not worth it)? This is the reason why the instructors keep reminding us to watch out on this, so do listen.

Good luck once again to all SSDC students, and remember - do listen to your instructors! SSDC will be moving to the Admiralty industrial park area (supposed to be next to the SMRT bus depot) in August, as long as the construction is on time. Meanwhile, ride safe!

Rehearse the test and circuit route in your mind many times, remembering little things like blindspot and safety checks. Keep your cool and be steady when doing your courses; finish the test calmly and you'll do fine. Good luck!
