had my 1st lesson today...quite hard to adapt at 1st esp after riding for 2yrs+ on kup kia....hard to control with the clutch at 1st and the gear control is completely reverse from my bike. some time when kick to gear 2,will kenna at neutral during crank or fig 8....my instructor is melvin,any1 kenna him b4???quite strict, 3 out of 8 pass only. but overall teach quite a lot of stuffs on how to handle and pin piont our nmistakes during all the obstacles.:)

my next lesson will be on next sat 320pm.any1 joining me?:cheeky:

u can read alot of feedbacks about him in this forum.

I don't think can be too critical of strict instructors. At the end of the day I guess they also want safe riders out on the roads - and there is no point going for your test if you are not at that standard.

Yes they can fail you but as long as they can give you good constructive criticism thats ok. In my year of learning 2B at SSDC I don't think any instructors I met were failing people on practical lessons just for the fun of it.

And even though SSDC is shifting to almost Malaysia I will still be back again for Class 3 and 2A

i'm not comparing. Just sharing what i saw.

Yes, i've seen a 2B rider, stalled his engine, and manage to complete the plank.

He was holding on his rear brake too much, and before he could clutch in, the engine stalled. So just as he clutch in, the bike free wheeled, with whatever momentum left over on the speed of the bike, he manage to start the bike, then continue to move thur the plank. Fortunate for him Because, not all bikes can start with the clutch in. Some bikes have to engage N to start.

Oh my bad, thought you were saying they're similar...

Ooh silver wing, I like that too

i too think that the instructors at ssdc are pretty fair. sometimes its not because people did a particular course badly but just that overall control is lacking, or checking of blind spots are too late or too early...that kinda thing. i know they've been rather fair with me and offering good tips everytime. also, i'd much rather repeat a lesson (which i can book normally within the next couple days) than repeat the TP cos its at least 1 month's wait.

Going for Prac 5 tml, want to clear up something about check backs:

1. After turning out of the Start Point, at the junction before turning right to the slope, is it a check back left since we are near the curb?

2. After the slope, before turning left into that long stretch of road, is it check back inwards?

3. At the E-brake, is it a check back inwards as well cause they are curbs on both sides?

Thank you.

1. Yes, check back left.

2. Ehhh... Can't remember leh. I was always on the left, so always check back right. Dunno what it is if you're on the right.

3. While queueing up for the e-brake, check back inwards. Before moving after the e-brake, check back right.

You're welcome! :p

actually its easier to ask the instructors after lesson, at least you know that whatever info they give you should be correct... rather than everyone give their piece here and some might be contradicting...

and it's faster than waiting for Corse to answer here...

boring rider. with a boring bike.

too old to want to appear interesting anymore.

pai seh cos i make stupid mistakes that caused me to fail... first time i drop from narrow plank after i could do it no problem during circuit revision.... 2nd time i ran out of course for crank course cos i threw my clutch... the way i see it like these mistakes were very avoidable, but yet i still made them....

regardless, whats impt now is TP!

Wrong, after coming down from slope, should be checking back right side. Only when on the slope and before start of E-brake, then u check inward only

Even during CR I make these "stupid" mistakes. Take it easy on yourself.

I'm very used to repeating 3-4 times per lesson liao... immune.
