Hi MS-13,

I mean the course is so popular, it will be hard to get in. So if u r already working as a safety officer role in a company but without the formal training, will it be easier to get accepted into the course?

I was retrenched from a semi-con firm when it close down but was rehired as a WSH Engineer. Previous exp from my time as a safety comitttee member.

2. Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH or Certificate in Safety Coordinators Training Course SCTC or preferably 5 years of working experience as Safety Supervisor/Safety Coordinator.

How they judge you have WSH skills and knowledge pertaining to that of the advance certificate?

thanks for the reply!

so e meaning is dat u muz have a letter from ya previous company proving that ya role in dat company.. but as wat u can c in e requirement, i tink ahk die2 u muz have the sctc certs ahk...u may try to kol sp or np to verified it..:thumb:

or u could ask e otha forumers here...me oso not sure...

Thanks for the feedback. I am also a WSHO and MOM Approved Trainer :)

As I am in the process in moving into WDA WSH training, just like to make comparison between the training materials for previous safety coordinator course and current advanced certificate in WSH . Sorry for not making my intention clear earlier. It will be great if any bros here can share if you happen to have the training materials for certificate or advanced certificate in WSH course. Thanks in advance.

Hi! I just happened to search for more places offering Certificate in WSH and saw your threads discussing about being a registered safety officer.

I joined safety line about1 year ago, have been trying to get in Specialist Dip. in WSH, but was rejected, as i only have 1 year experience and do not have Adv. Cert. in WSH.. So now i decide to take on Certificate in WSH and step by step, hopefully by end of next year can complete what i am aiming for.

Yet the intake for NTUC LearningHub is full for the July, so pray hard that there might be 1 vacancy, so i can complete by Aug and get the cert in Sep.

Guess this is a long road to go :cheeky:

Your conversations in the previous threads are very interesting and useful

hi, not sure if i'm asking in the right thread, but this seems to be a rather active discussion on safety courses, and job, so here goes...

i'm currently do BEnvOHS (part time degree) provided by PSB, with no prior safety field working exp. where would i stand in the market upon completion of my degree? (right now, the future seems gloomy)

safety personnel? (seems like a generic term)

safety supervisor? (seems to require specific cert e.g. lifting/scaffolding)

safety coordinator? (is there such title as mentioned previously SC course has been replaced by adv cert WSH)

safety officer? (definitely out i guess, since it requires 2 yrs exp, etc)

sorry for the mouthful, thanks if anyone can advise.

Yes, you need to register with MOM.

There are currently two polytechnics offering this course, Ngee Ann and Singapore Polytechnicss, Work-place Safety & Health Officer Course. I think it's S$2961. I am sponsored by my company to attend this course, cos we need a registered WSHO in my company. I attended the night classes started last July, had my exams in Nov last year. Just got my results.

I will need to complete 6 assignments and a report this semester, which is from Jan 2007 - Jul 2007. For Diploma holders, we have to work in related safety area in your company for THREE years and apply to be a register WSHO with MOM with your 3 years of "safety" experiences. For Degree holders, you all will need only TWO years of experiences.

But you have to be MENTALLY PREPARED. There is a lot of theories to study and memorise...

I cleared two weeks of leave before my first exams and had to lock myself in my room for the full two weeks to study. I studied till 2 am almost everyday and woke up at 9am the next day to continue studying.

If you intend to go for the course, better hurry up. I heard from the SP lecturers(I am taking it at SP) that they increase the criteria to only allowing Degree holders to register for the course and there may be an entrance test too...

If you really going for the course, and need my summarised notes (which I shared with my classmates too), we can arrange to meet for me to LEND you(must return me WITHOUT any writings on them, ok?? )

Hummm, in this case i really have to hurry up, as i am a dip. graduate. Hopefully by next year the criteria still remains the same.

can anyone tell me if i could take up safety officer course or safety coordinator with just a NITEC cert? i would love to work in this line after my NS which is arnd september. Can anyone share with me?

- criteria needed

- where to take up the course.

thanks you guys. :)

Hi, slim chance. Even for me with Dip. cert in engieering. also have to start from the beginning (i only have 1 yr exp. till today). Unless u have more than 3 years exp (adv. cert.) and 5 years (specialist dip.). in safety line, u have to start from the basic, this is the requirement. Trust me on this, i already delayed for 6 mths in digging in this 'criteria' thing.
