Yuo don't need another course unless the company require you to be a Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer which you do not meet the required criteria with your certificate. Maybe you can get a Safety Supervisor job.

There are good and not so good companies in either industries. Which is why "Safety is top down commitment". The top management's commitment can make or break the safety culture, directly affecting what experiences you can "learn".

To put it in the simplest way.. generalised to my knowledge, not accurate to be used as a guideline (please correct me if I'm wrong);

Construction

Super dynamic - stakeholders can change in hours, days or weeks, people come and go or you may see the same joker for the next 3 years. Planned or unplanned work activities can "suddenly" be completed over the weekend/public holidays. Alot to learn, alot to share, alot to lose also. Project size can range from peanuts to enormous, from extremely dirty to super clean (in some construction of cleanrooms, we're talking about micron size particles count per cubic metre).

People can listen to you but do nothing or nobody will listen to you and do everything wrong. An industry where usually a person wears multiple hats, over stretched, overworked. People are usually your biggest problem. Good people are gems but nobody appreciates.

Marine (I have zero experience in Marine FYI)

Rigid, regimental - multiple incompatible, high risk work activities (which is why they have VCSS meetings 365 days a year). Contractors have to declare what materials (e.g. chemicals) they are using otherwise can't get in shipyard, etc. Strict work methods and procedures. Tight schedules, so don't think you can suka suka SWO there without a strong valid reason.

Petrol/Chemical (zero experience in PetChem also)

This industry very wide range. You can be dealing with polymer pallets, hydrogen sulphide, painkillers/antibiotics, heavy crude oil, etc. The work activities also varies from systematic (boring same old thing everyday) to dynamic (research labs might anytime go boomz).

But why these 3 industries? Don't forget there are service industry, transport and logistic industry, healthcare industry, etc.. next year we will even see more industries (in fact every workplace) like education industry, wholesale and retail, information communications, etc.

Every industry got something new to learn. Even every different company got something new to learn. Just a problem that everybody feels that their system is number one and refused to learn. There's only safety if you can learn to see the danger. Unfortunately, not everyone can.

Waaaaa..... sibei chim leh....

so you want my safety officer registration no.?

wonder how are you going to "segregate"?

we can't even tell whether or not you are a biker in this singaporebikes.com forum.

i think a forum welcomes all walks of people even though they may not share the same profession.

I agree.

Like here, I'm not biker. Also not RSO but here nobody chase me out.

Hi cstay66,

What we are discussing is that how we should protect the intention of sharing from abuse such as "copy and paste" then claiming the ownership. I had heard of such legal cases do exists. We also think that such abuse usually will deter further sharing of information.

Maybe you feel that its unnecessary? I would love to hear more from your perspective.

PS: I do ride a bike.

If want to share, why worry or bother if others want to copy and paste? If others want to claim ownership of my work, let him claim lor. Doesn't mean he claim than I will die or anything like dat what.

Also, I don't believe anyone here can come out with something original now lah. Surely whatever they produce, the info come from some examples or materials somewhere out there, whether thru internet, thru books, magazines, or whatever with some company's best practices, CPs, etc, etc, and etc.

You mean to say, someone can just take the CP79, see the headings and write a SMS all by himself just from thinking without any references?
