Hi there, i notice that safety officer requires some certificate to work in a particular area, anyone can enlighten me on how and whats the requirement?

 

Your need to register with MOM, prior attend course and pass exam.

can anyone tell me if i could take up safety officer course or safety coordinator with just a NITEC cert? i would love to work in this line after my NS which is arnd september. Can anyone share with me?

bro in dis line nitec is nothing.......:sorry: for ma harshness...u need e certificate in wsh or bcss 1st before taking to e next step. anyway fyi as wat toyota23 say there's no more safety coordinator course, they replace it with advance certificate in wsh. u can refer to dis link for more details..

its a good step for u, its a good pay job and some safety personnel pay u cant believe it,its much higher den a higher nitec or diploma graduates....(no hard feelings:lol:)but fyi as wat i've say b4 in ma previous pages, if u got no experience dun dream of coming to safety line unless there's some company willing to take in fresh graduate or ur fren is recommending u to a company. if not den...sorie its jus a waste of time n money, ma fren his cert has been a year old and till now not yet get jobs n some of e forumer's here cert is 2yrs old but not yet werk as a safety personnel, anywae :cheers:

MS-13 got his Point right , No exp dont waste the time & money to take the course this is my advice to you all.. Saw this thread for safety officer so i sign-up for sbf account :). I'm a Safety Officer myself nice to meet all the safety personnel here.

Hi

 

I understand there is no more safety officer course, instead the specialist diploma course is in place now.

 

Those who want to qualified to be a safety officer (which is now called WSHO) have to take this course. Please note that the course is not a certification for a person to be a WSHO but only a qualification. You still need to have a number of years of experience before you can register as a

WSHO.

 

criteria needed :- Previously, you need to have at least a diploma in engineering to take this course. Now to cater for the demand, safety supervisors who have a number of years of experience can apply for the specialist diploma course.

 

 

- where to take up the course:- Singapore Polytechnic.

 

WSHO= Workplace SAfety and Health Officer. What is NITEC by the way?

nope...me finishin in june...BUT me took at NP..this kinda time consuming wif all the assignment n reports...and most material u will nid to use will be from ya company itself..its a very gd eye opener fer me....

If companies dun employ ppl with no experience, curious to know how did the current safety officers got into the job? Did all get recommendation from connections or some other ways? Anyone can comment on their career path from the beginning?

yo bro, company sponsor or self sponsor no different ahk...if u meet e entry requirement,y not take it??? then u can go mah...:slapforehead: me maself take self sponsored...easy,no need to sign bond wit company etc2...aniwae now got spur mah...got funding no need to depend on company sdf...aniwae ur nick nice ahk...:lol:

Hi MS-13,

 

I mean the course is so popular, it will be hard to get in. So if u r already working as a safety officer role in a company but without the formal training, will it be easier to get accepted into the course?

 

I was retrenched from a semi-con firm when it close down but was rehired as a WSH Engineer. Previous exp from my time as a safety comitttee member.

 

2. Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH or Certificate in Safety Coordinators Training Course SCTC or preferably 5 years of working experience as Safety Supervisor/Safety Coordinator.

 

How they judge you have WSH skills and knowledge pertaining to that of the advance certificate?
