Hi,

I observed something interesting in Garage Sales.

The price of a bike is not proportional to the class. For example, a class 2B bike is about $2k-$5k, exculding those more expensive ones like Aprilla.

Then a class 2A bike like the S4 is $6k-$10k.

BUT, why are there so many class 2 bikes that costs like $5k + only?

I always thought that the bigger a bike, the more expensive it is.

the "age" of the bike plays an important part too.. Try comparing for the same year model for all classes,

eg. 2009 spark VS 2009 CB400 Revo VS 2009 YZF-R1.

u know the answer.

My Rides

Yamaha Nouvo MX - Sep 2006

Honda CB400 Spec II - Nov 2007

before you even get all excited thinking of buying a used / new bike, try & learn about Singapore's COE system. If you don't understand what COE is, learn more about Singapore 1st.

i know of some people that bought bikes without even understanding what COE is all about. :cheeky:

i am serious, not joking as it is from my real experience, saw a nice bike, "newbie" owner ask me about COE, not knowing he "overpaid" for the bike, considering the time the bike has left before renewing COE. many "newbies" bought "overpriced" 39-yr old HDB flats without knowing what HDB 99-yr tenancy agreement means or the financing rules for 40-yr old flats when these new owners "intend" to sell later...

Yep, must remember our country hates old and antique stuff other than their own in office, thats why we have COE, its written purpose is to prevent congestion but its real purpose is to make more money for the themselves, especially the old antique stuff talking about politics.

New bike prices are generally proportionate to capacity (of course with other factors like make, model, type, quality of parts etc).

But used price depend very much on demand. Class 2 bikes usually depreciate faster because demand is lower. super 4 costs more than a lot of class 2 bikes of same age, because of high demand and guaranteed resale.

and s4 is one of the highest cc bike one can get in the cls 2a category.

if there were 1 class instead of 3 classes (2b, 2a and 2), bikes like s4 or rvf might not have such a high demand and resale value
