If you are not too confident to switch from 2B bike to class 2 big bike. U may try 600cc bike first. 600cc and 400cc doesn't make much different. Thats y i didn't bother waste any money to buy a 2A bike last time. Me myself last time from Aprilia RS125 switch to R6 and rode 1 year+ and now switch to RC51. Its all talk about your determination. As long as the bike both of your feet can touch the ground just go for it haha.

it's easier to say that when MOST new riders think they are the exception to the rule, however when things happens the cost can be quite substantial....600cc under 6000rpm can be almost the same as a 400cc.....When thing rev past 10000rpm all hell break lose....Most 600cc Super sport can accelerate from 0-100kph within 4sec, reaches 200kph within 15 sec.....and reach top speed maybe half a min or so.....

It is dangerous when ego takes over especially at MY with your superbike bike's friends...

You will need PRODIGIOUS amount of learning to do before you gain the ability to control a supersport or superbike at speed. on the street it's even worse because 90% of street riding is SIMPLE. that last 10% will kill you and it will do it AFTER you've been lulled into thinking that this is easy...

It is best to err at the safer side rather than thinking I am different from others....

Copied from R6 forum...Not to mention the ability to read traffic....By years of road experiences not by how exceptional you are...

Ride the bike and not let the bike take you for a ride.

It Happens!

Oh and BTW

Just watch this, it MIGHT happen should you decide to take the leap without confidence. :)

Be safe man, don't risk it. Progress takes time, don't rush it. Your time will come when you will get to your dream bike.

Even for me, I'm considering keeping my 2B bike for a few years and try to improve as much as I can before upgrading, though I will upgrade my license asap.

No hurry, unless you know you're gonna die in like 3 years and wanna enjoy before you go...

Words of advice, ride each class for at least a year before upgrading, you might save some money but experience cant be brought by any monies.

good advise! btw and to addthe 1 year experience in the driving centre is different from road experience as touring experience is different from adventure ridding or track for that matter trail as well take your time to learn them well or time will be taken from you

Since u pass from TP meaning more or less u can handle the capacity but does not mean u will well verse the characteristic of ur new bike.

IMO as long as u are conservative till u fully confident and trust the bike during day to day riding and obey the road, it should be no problem.

Remember ,sometime it is not u that created accident rather than the accident came to u.

I'm considering to switch to a class 2 sports bike from my 150cc motorbike, but I'm afraid the weight and power differences might be too much to handle and I might crash the class 2 bike after I ride out from the motor shop or sometime soon after I start riding it.

Anyone with a similar experience of upgrading past class 2A before? Advisable to skip 2A or better to slowly progress through the classes?

since TS got doubt , buy a class 2a bike

wait we say can be done can be done

then he crash his class 2 bike , become our fault

If you are doing that, do make sure you have enough money for the maintenance and unkeep of the class 2 bike (money for servicing, tires, road tax, insurance, repairs if need, petrol)

i believe its just a matter of getting used to, gradually. like u drive different cars, try different rides.. surely 1st or 2nd time a bit awkward. then once u get used to it, it just gets easier. but never be too over confident. machines are machines. just take it slowly.

For my conservative self will tell you to go for 2A for a year but on hindsight, this is not really neccessary. Whenever I rode a different bike, bigger or smaller cc, there's always a new learning curve anyway. Whatever you decide, pls be safe.

Posted

been riding 2b bikes for 8 years before switching to class 2.. no probs at all, but definitely need to get used to it.. in fact, i feel more stable and safer on a class 2 bike.. i think a defensive, cautious and responsible mindset is more important than what bike you are riding.

Posted

Being on the road, eithier riding or driving for more than 25 years, I can tell you most riders CAN't ride well even if they are riding 2B bikes let alone class 2.

Most meaning a ratio of 8 out of every 10.

I come across so many riders everday, who fumble on their 2A and 2 bikes ( most noticeably whenever they have to split traffic in a heavy traffic jam) and it makes me wonder how on earth can these ppl be riding on the roads, let alone class 2A !

Most fumble and remain so in 2B , if they continue to ride that class.

The thing is, riding more years on the roads does not mean YOU can ride better.

It is a matter of ego vs capability to ride.

Riding very well in 2B, also does not mean you can ride well in 2A or even 2.

But the reverse is true, that is, if you can ride class 2 well, you will likely ride 2A and 2B well.
