i ever read somewhere. the online reviews whereby those perforated leathers are as comfortable as mesh, if not more. if tink if more touring okay la. in singapore, lots of start-stop traffic, get ready to melt.

honestly, mesh can also get hot while riding even at night across the 2nd link. just a matter of getting used to it, and appreciating the fact that at least u have something between yourself and the abrasive tarmac.

no prob. just sharing my own research on the web after seeing this thread about ur queries.

leather provides more abrasion resistance. eg. sliding on tarmac.

 

armor provides more impact resistance. eg. flying straight into a tree/car.

 

With street riding, impact protection is a higher priority for me, so i went with the Mesh jacket and armor.

 

Most leather jackets do not come with armor, and those that do, will provide the best protection and cost the most.

 

Ventilation wise, you have to check and see if the leather has peforations for air to flow and how it is stitched or made.

eh no, i wear mesh jacket to work everyday in peak hour morning traffic. and my jacket comes fully padded in the elbow, shoulder, chest and back.

 

moving will be fine, only when you are stationary for long periods will start to feel warm.

 

because the sun rays do not shine directly on your skin, you actually feel cooler sometimes.

 

once you wear it for some time, you'll get used to it.

on the side note, i do wear my mesh jacket daily for riding to office. it is not as bad as you think and it definitely helps to reduce the kind of "on the road smoke smell" to your shirt or work shirt..

on the topic of alpinestars mesh jackets, do the current owners get a size bigger than the alpinestars sizing chart? ie. on their chart, u are technically a SM, but you get a MD for better fit?

the package i just ordered weighed 1.8lb (less than 1kg) but vpost charging me 3.8kg based on volumetric weight. total cost of items USD107 (approx SGD137) but the shipping itself is SGD40+ (abt SGD30+) after promotion rates.

No idea. Though, for me. It seems pretty true to fitting. I usually wear "L" and I've bought a Alpinestars T-RC-1 Air Flo at that size too. However, there are issues on the elbow, could be too big cause these are usually designed for the Euro/US markets.

That's how it usually goes, they charge by volumetric weight. Perhaps, the box. So sometimes if you were to order jackets, expect to pay more for "air".

 

In any case, I do like ridersdiscount.com as they do provide shipping at a flat fee of $25 with a large selection. Best if below SGD$400 as there's GST charged to orders above that amount.

check with vpost, by right they have this process where if the weight difference between actual and volumetric is more than 3kg, they charge the lower weight.

Went into the Racing World b4, seems to be a new store as things are abit messy in the store.

 

The staff are very helpful, with this lady wanting me to try out the jackets even though i was just browsing.

 

They offered a 10% discount off the prices of their jackets (and other products if i'm not wrong)...
