Nice work!!

For the IU i know some folks secured to the front fork with it facing sideways. It'll still work and remember to only place on the right side so u have no problem with carpark gantry sensors.

can try at the side of the frame close to the fork part also i guess.

So I just finished my seat yesterday. And fixed on my Biltwell grips.

Now need to figure out a less conspicuous position for my IU.. thinking of putting it under the headlight behind the number plate. but looks like it will barely clear. any other suggestions besides the cliched next to engine position?

is your bike parked at bedok north ave 3?

Bros, what are your experiences when trying to clear inspection..

Do the inspectors kao pei on your modded non stock bikes? Or do u guys re-mount the stock parts like exhaust & tank etc?

Thinking of custom-ing a bike but hope to find out more on whether it is easy to clear inspection

revert to stock. thats the most logical thing to do.

Always have the original parts ready. Either kept by yourself or at your regular workshop.

During customization good to bear in mind the limits of the rules here. Esp if the bike is a COE bike, it means annual inspection is required. Play around the system and don't let the system play you. Unless u r prepared to pay a hefty fine or even risk the bike being impounded.

Thanks for your replies!

I'm considering anodizing all the chrome parts on my bike to gold.

If you were to do such a job on a cruiser, which trusted shop would you send your bike to, to oversee this? I'm mainly worried about the bike's performance/electrical re-wiring when reassembled.

- stripping bike parts (engine block, rims, exhaust, forks, misc small parts incl throttle cable)

- Would you hard anodize/powder coat/ or even paint for a gold finish?

- Where to sandblast previously painted rims?

Any bros have done these before.. can share what the costs will be like?

I have received lots of questions on the bike, so i'll just summarize it here.

The seat was measured and cut to shape from the original s4 seat using just pliers and a bread knife to cut the sponge and lots of time.

20140611 383.jpg

Picture of the bike with just the S4 seatpan sans sponge

I then sent it to an upholstery shop to wrap it up with the design i had in mind. i believe any shop can do the seat wrap. I used the original S4 seat so that i can retain the utility of the underseat storage using the original seat locking mechanism.

Clip ons are available at ahboy.

Forks were lowered.

headlamp grille was 7" Mini headlight stone guard bought off eBay

biltwell grips were bought off eBay

Tyres are Heidenau Scouts. Sprockets and chain were changed to accomodate the fat heavy tyres.

Paintwork was diy with rubber paint as a basecoat

Taillight is LED lamps bought off eBay.

Forkboots are from Triumph motorcycles.

No frames were harmed in the process of the modifications so that i could reassemble all the original parts again for the annual inspection.

(yes time-consuming, but i love spending time with my bikes)

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

Hi bro I'm STILL doing my s4 project. Can I ask how'd the tyre change affect FC?

it went down drastically in the initial stages (from 25kpl to ~19kpl) but somehow it increased and stabilized. currently i'm getting between 23-25kpl.

Hi guys, was referred to this section by Jonborah as i was asking around in the wrong place x).

Have a question that i've been trying to find answers to online but to not much avail, so hoping you guys can maybe share some insight.

My dad has a old-ish Honda Shadow 400 that is due to be scrapped in about 3 years or so. My hope is to renew the COE and take over from him at that point. Thought it would be quite cool to keep the bike as my dad is quite fond of it. My question is whether or not it is possible to have the bike modified to achieve the Brat/Cafe Racer/Street Tracker look. I realize that it's a pretty touchy topic with some people since this bike was not meant for such a look, but i'm genuinely curious.

I've seen some pretty awesome cruiser - cafe racer conversion, such as the Yamaha Virago XV750 cafe racers that are quite easy to find on google. I note that the virago and shadow are different, especially the rear suspension of virago being a "monshock" sort of deal. Just curious as to whether its feasible.

( i know now after some valuable input from our peers here that there will need to be a subframe fabricated and maybe bolted on(?) )

Was looking to make the bike look roughly like this picture below.

vintage-cafe-racer-openfacehelmet.jpg

Or even better like this :

18a5611560a07651cba741cba745cad2.jpg

Any advice would be great!! Also sorry, but i don't know much about the technical aspects of bikes as i'm quite new to the scene and still trying to gain as much knowledge as possible.

i'm not very pro in this, but i do saw phantom transform into cafe racer & mini harley.

and they do look awesome in a way, so i think it's possible :)
