How to get rid of it? Everything else about the helmet is fine. Right now I spray Lysol.

The best method i have ever tried. If you wanna give it a try. Soak in a solution of Dettol mix water. i think mabbe 2 caps full with a pail of water should work. Hot water if possible. After soak just rinse and dry it. Stinky shoes also can use this method. germs killed = no smell. Unless you hate dettol smell then too bad cant use this method.

The place where you kept you helmet might be stinky also, places like inside cupboard usually no ventilation inside. Try not to place your helmet in immediately after use.

Wash it the same way you wash your clothes.

Soak with detergent then rinse.

Sodium bicarbonate is an alternative but its too messy.

I dont wear helmet liner or buff, i just wash the inner paddings regularly, plus soak or sun them if necessary. Taking out the paddings to sun is the best and cheapest solution, it kills bacteria that create the smell. As for washing, i put the paddings into laundry bag (daiso $2) and use washing machine. Been doing it for years, no damages at all. :thumb:

The washing of the paddings/liners is generally easy but however, how do you guys wash the helmet strap? Because its not removable.. Or you guys don't wash it at all? Hahaha mine stinks because of the sweat at the neck area

Same use a small pail of water mix dettol and use a clothe to wipe the strap. Best way to prevent all these is to wear a balaclava or buff to cover your face and wash the buff or bala regularly. And if you keep inside the box make sure its not after a rainy ride. Dry it in the open when after rain so as not to create stale moist smell. And do place some air freshner in the box if you dun mind too much sweet smelling in your helmet when you ride. Some ppl get nausea when they breath in perfumes.

It would be easier to wear a skullcap or something similar if u have problems with stinking up the helmet, because washing isnt a permanent thing so id rather keep the time between washes long in between, because u have to wait for it to dry and all that and its quite leceh.

Helmet makes ur hair more messy than skullcap. At least skull cap u wear, the only thing is it makes ur hair like flat pancake.

If people are even lazy to wash skullcap (which is easier than washing liner) then use disposable shower caps? XD

Where to get a bala cheap?

You can buy it in Gmarket or some CMO ard here. I got it from Motobici i wonder if he still has it. If you want fast can get it from Motorworld. Lavender Motorworld also have. Pack of 3 from Oxford is $10 if i remember. Keep your head and helmet fresh.

Use Kerosene bro. Hardware shop, cheap cheap will do.

Anyone can ride a bike. Being a biker, is a state of mind.
