SMCA/SMSA Singapore Motorcycling Safety Association or something along that line is good to go. We'll call for votes on the 10th? This is a consensus-based association. Every single rider's opinion is important.

To Bobo_rider

Please do join us on the 10th. You are most welcome.

To enHANZed,

Will you come on the 10th too? I believe your contribution will be valuable, as the medical issues which you can bring up as well as emergency response issues are important areas in our cause.

To all,

16 riders may be a small start-up, each and everyone of us will have busy periods in the days ahead, but so long as the passion for riding holds, from time to time we can always devote our energy to this cause. For those who have been monitoring this thread but have been undecided about coming this Sat, Alan, Endless, Mr Lau and me agreed on this: "What have we got to lose but our time if this association does not take off?"

On a brighter note, there are positive signs. I see a lot of potential for this association. Lets work together to make Singapore a safer place for riders. See you all this Sat. Cheers :thumb:

Ah ya.. stop talking about that one lah. The article is I write one, then Endlessloop proof read one time and pointed out to me, but i forgot to change it, and when it reach Mr Lau to be put up as sticky he also didn't see it. okok... I will improve on my English.

Boofeng you're added. Can i take it you represent NUS riders? Not so much different as coming as an individual, you can just put across the safety concerns of the NUS riders community.

What is the idea behind this SBA/SMCA or whatever we call it?

It is simply to give us bikers collective power.

Think of the analogy of it is much harder to break 10 chopsticks held together than to break 1 individual chopsticks.

100 persons giving the same vote at the same time, is more powerful than one persons' voice.

The collective power of SMCA/SBA extends to many aspects. Not only on bikeshops, not on LTA regulations, but any bike-related areas. Of course, the common and lowest denominator concerns amongst all bikes is our own safety when riding. So this is one aspect that this SBA/SMCA can hope to improve on.

See this as a national service/social service/volunteer work. If you are prepared to contribute, then no harm getting to know what's going on and where this will lead to.

Hi all, would like to inform those who sign up on Wednesday 7 March onwards that there is a small chance you will not be able to park inside as the forwarded list to TP needs to eh... circulate through the bureaucracy for clearance. If you watched "Just Follow Law" you know what i mean

So if rejected at the gate.. try to park nearby, please dun park right outside TP HQ k?

Hi all, tomorrow is the day. Lets see what we can come up with. Please take down my number. 97624492. In case you can't find the meeting room or something. I'm not too sure which room it is too. I hope they put up a signboard or two. Call me if you are lost. We have more than 20 riders turning up tomorrow. The list is still increasing as of now. There are actually almost ten riders who are interested to join, but cannot make it tomorrow, due to ICT, working etc. It is ok. This is not a one off meeting. We hope to do much more over a long perod of time. Do look out for this thread for future updates. See you all tomorrow.

For those signing up from today, sorry that the parking clearance will not be in time. Do park discreetly nearby. I don;t think they will waive any summons

We decided to go ahead with forming the association. We are calling for group representatives who are willing to commit time into joining the committee, and will be meeting up again soon, to hold elections before getting registered under the Registration of Societies Act. Tentative plans is that in future meetings we will have representatives from TP safety branch, LTA, etc etc sit in on our meetings. This will reduce red tape for organising events. I'm not sure if its appropriate for me to go into specific details here, as not all that we suggested may be eventually implemented, and some tweakings here and there may be necessary. We discussed quite a bit, and a few details about some significant small steps were suggested too, some of which are quite radical. We are hoping people who are willing to commit the time will step forward to contribute. We hope riders who are lawyers, doctors, specialising in emergency response etc etc will step forward. This will give the committee more expertise in various relevant fields. We can discuss in more details the plans that we brainstormed today. As we are all volunteers and have full time job/studies etc, this will require commitment. Please pm me or Endlessloop if you are interested and committed. The next meeting should be held soon.

As this association can only be as strong as the size and representation from the rider's community, we sincerely hope to have more groups send a representative forward. This will assist TP in desseminating information to the riders community. An example is how the motorcycle shops are represented by their traders association, which aids dialogues and exchanges between them and TP.
