Any odour is probably caused by the bacteria in the helmet lining/ cushions.

Wash the helmet linings more often and dun expose the inners of the helmet to direct sunlight while drying.

Placing a scent bag in the helmet when not in use probably does not solve the issue.

Spraying of perfume is of cos not recommended as we are not sure whether will it degrade the protective foam in the helmet.

If you have those lamp Berger thingy.

Light a lamp. Put over the lamp, a tall stool with holes at the seats. The Ikea Stools is perfect. Rest your washed and dried helmet and its paddings on the stool.

Let the perfume drift up and into your helmet. Cover the helmet, stool and lamp berger with a thick blanket if you have to. Scent up your blanket and helmet all together.

I heard my friends say there is a Sharp Ioniser for Helmet. Think the shop that sells Nolan and Shoei carries this Ioniser

Life is full of ups and down, I call it roller coaster ride.

When you are going up, you will have all the anticipation of fun and trill and get to see all the nice scenery. But when you sense that it is going down, you will wish it would stay there forever but the thruth is its not possible.

Before you know it, you are on the way down and only thing one can do is

hold on tight to yourself. If cannot take it let it out by shouting.

The higher you went, the longer the sufferings.

But when you are at the bottom already, you will try to think of those nice moments up there again. But at the same time fear the coming down part.

Some things are, we know it yet we still go and try it.

Till the moment we are off the roller coaster on the platform, some people suffer and puke while some are enjoying the process and laughing to their joy.

My best guess is you're not using a helmet liner? Get 1 if not get the sharp ioniser. I swear by the liner cos i sweat alot

Thrash? Don't mind if i do.

my helmet only has removable cheekpads. the others are not.

in that case, is there any shop that can clean the helmet with the padding still inside?

i tried febreeze, seemed to make things worse.. the initial smell will be replaced by the febreeze, but once sweat or facial oil comes into contact, the smell actually becomes worse.

i'm short of dipping my entire helmet into a mild soap solution overnight!

Kelena,

Get a spare helmet.

Dip this current smelly helmet into soap solution and jiggle the water and soap in the helmet. You need to loosen out the dead skin pieces, dandruffs and dust collected in the helmet. An anti-septic solution rinse will also be good.

Rinse, dry a few days, sun it as much as possible, spray the underside of the helmet with 3M waterproofing spray to ward off rain water.

Keep in a box wth charcoal water vapour absorbing gels bits to suck out as much air, water and bacteria.

Wear a 'good morning, you are good' white face towel on your head every time you wear the helmet and change out the towel every day. Shave bald if neessary.

that's quite a few things to do! what I do is put febreeze and let it dry with charcoal, while i'm using my spare helmet. as the spare is not really comfortable, max i let the other one dry for 24 hours and i'm on it again.

so I gather the only thing i've not tried is to put it in a soap solution then. i'll try it over this weekend.

Wash! Just like clothes....washing is the best solution.

Also, buy a cheap $5 skull cap from Ah Boy, absorb sweat and odour, can wash anytime you like.

I take out the padding to wash and also wash the whole helmet as well then dry in the sun. Wash with sun silk shampoo hahaha.. After that smells very good.. But I think may affect the structural integrity of the helmet if in the sun for too long?
