This tread serves as a personal experience by the rider / owner of the bike and not targetting any bike shop in particular. If possible, pls avoid using the shop name directly.

My experience at Yishun Industrial Park.

Send my bike to shop to change my front sprocket, mechanic remove cover, try to remove the sprocket, 20 mins late, come tell me the sprocket cannot be remove. No choice, have to send another shop tomorrow since this shop is incompetent.

Rode my bike to pick up my wife and found the speedo not accurate. Next day send to another shop and managed to change the sprocket. I also ask shop why my speedo not accurate. He said that the special nut at the front sprocket was damaged.

My guess is the first shop damaged it, that's why he say he can't remove the sprocket. Which bike shop can't change a sprocket? Ended up i have to pay for something that wasn't broken in the first place.

Send my bike to bike shop to change brake pads. Ask bike shop for Ferodo pads. Mechanic remove my pads and then went into shop to find but came out saying don't have. Then he went in and after 10 mins, take out another brand and says this one same same as Ferodo. Then he proceed to fix the pads but keep going in and out of the shop. I was wondering why and then I saw him take the brake pads to the grinding machine to grind it. I was thinking, what the F***? After half an hour, he fix up the pads and charged me $50. As it was already late, I didn't bother to ask about the grinding part.

A couple of weeks later, I noticed there is a sound coming from the brake caliper everytime I go over a hump. So I brought the bike to my mechanic and he took out the brake pads. That's when I saw the brand of the pads. It was a cheapo brand which I can get it at $36 bucks installed at another shop. To my surprise, my mechanic told me the pads are not meant for my bike. That explains what all that grinding is about. That stupid mechanic grind the pads so that it would not hit the inner part of the brake disc. Curse that bloody old fool. Didn't he know that is damn bloody dangerous. What if the pads jammed my disc? Irresponsible A**Hole!!!

Send bike to shop to check on wheel and steering cone bearing. Mechanic try to take out rear wheel. Use air wrench and try to open rear wheel nut. Was trying for a few minutes, then ask me over and tell me my wheel nut tread had stripped. I just did a sprocket change a week ago, how can it be stripped??? Giving the shop the benefit of doubt, I ask them to order another shaft and nut (which cost me $95). They told me it'll take some time and ask me to come back at 6pm. They even ask me for my year of manufacture.

Went down to shop at 5.30pm. They haven't even repaired my bike. Ask them why and they say have to measure the shaft. I took a look at the new shaft and noticed something different. It does not look the same as my stock one. I ask the bike shop and they say can modify to fit. What kind of crap is this???!!! I paid for an original part and need modifying??? I checked the part number and was convinced that they ordered the wrong year model. Then they just say to leave my bike there till Monday cos the agent closed liao. I was so bloody angry. Where is the professionalism??? At least they should have realised the shaft they got was wrong and should have ordered the right one straight away and not tell me can modify. One look at the shaft and you will noticed it's different. It's so bloody obvious.

I give up on bike shops at Yishun.

BTW, the 3 cases happened at different bike shops in Yishun.

Guess it's the culture there.

u put this bad experience but not a hint of the black shop.. then whats the point of doing this? normally most riders will noe which shop it is if u just put some hint and something like for example "today went bukit merah to pay installment at ( I-M*t*r**g)"

or u can just put the yellow sign bike shop at bukit merah / or the red sign board shop parallel to juzz wheel (2 word name that starts with R***W***)

or Hao Ki Lan shop

just some examples will be good so that ppl can avoid those shops.

Hint is as good as juz writing down the name. It can be sued for.

Singapore law. Facts

Here is some of mine

Went to a bike shop. More to custom works of scooters. Went there as i thought they are a unique shop that specialise in scoot.

Told them there's a problem with the scoot. Its seems that the scoot will "choke" during moving off. Quite dangerous.

They start out looking at my carb. Also cleaning the carb. True enough there is a part missing thus causing this "choke"

They are not really confident if they have the parts. One say the part is not sold locally, another said yes. So i told them to find out.

They told me to pay up first. $105. Labour, part and troubleshooting. Fine.

Next day they told me they cant get the part. So i took initiative to order one from ebay.

3 days later the part arrive at my door

The following day came down shop pass the carb to them. They fix it and tune it

After all this, boss said no need to pay extra.

So it means

$105 for installing, washing and tuning of carb. Wow!!!

Also they are not really confident in the works done and they have very low "contacts"

Will not go this shop other then regular servicing.

I find it easier to find a shop you can trust and stick with. I've been going to the same shop for almost 3 years now (same mechanics and boss) and have been satisfied so far.

And being loyal has its advantages such as being able to trust the workmanship, discounts, and friendly service. However, i also take it upon myself to inspect the work being carried out and ask question when in doubt. Sometimes being kiasu a little helps. After all, its your machine.

I went to the same shop for a year...it was fine until my usual mechanic went somewhere else and they brought in new mechanics. Now the new ones, all they are good at is skiving your money and do substandard work.

scrambler shop in jalan besar...

i went there because it was just easy fix (install speedo and meter on DRZ) and since it was Saturday, my usual shop "planet" would be packed.

so i went to this shop, parked my bike outside, walked in and ask the mech... how much to fix the DRZ stock meter.

he said 20$.. then i push the bike in, he took out the headlight, take out the wiring harness, strip some cables and said...

"wah so messy.. cannot do for 20$... must pay 50$... "

and he walk away from my bike.... KNNCCB...

well.. he earned his price for 50$... never to go again...
