Hello guys,

I ride a Bajaj Pulsar and it has 2 pole lights and the main headlight bulb for High/low beam.

The main High/Low beam are not working due to switch issue or Body control unit(Pulsar headlamp has this body control unit, not sure if other bikes have it) issue.

I intend to change both the left and right side switches and the BCU. These are expensive in Singapore about 230$ for the 3 parts.

I can source this from India for 1/4th of the price, but its gonna take some time like 3 - 4 months, until one of my colleagues go there and bring back the parts for me.

My question is, in the meanwhile, while I wait for the parts, is it legal to ride on the road in the night with just the pole lights ON?

I am asking only from the legality point of view, from safety point of view, I know what it means.

But legally speaking does anyone know if pole lamps ON and headlight not ON will have TP stopping and summoning?

If yes, I will just not ride in the night.

eh actually in terms of legality, it is not even allowed with just the pole lights on in the day as well u took ur 2b RTT it already stated that headlights must be on at all times, (24hrs a day as long as u are riding it) for motorcycles.. fine if im not wrong is 30 for not switching on headlights

its been so long...

Agreed with blacstarz, pole light are not allowed and Singapore requires us as riders to switch on our headlights when riding despite day or night. Personally i dont risk switching off my headlight during the day cause it will eventually becomes a habit in the long run. Its better to switch it on when riding to avoid any unwanted situation.

Thanks everybody, I guess, I will just avoid riding after 7PM.

This site says that riding after 7PM without headlights/taillights will be 30$ fine:

For bikes, it's 24 hours. The 7pm to 7am rule applies to cars and buses and trucks...

I turn on my headlights 24hrs one even though it can be switched off. For what wanna off i also dunno sia... A few times, my headlight blow... So i just use my high beam la as my head light! Haha... Its easier to see a biker with headlights on during the day also.

Save battery, turn off, see the men in white, turn on lor.

it would be risky to your own life or even the fine.. when fine comes don come and cry father cry mother like some of them did in the forum and ask for appeal lor... they asked for it anyway...

LOL no offence, but it doesn save much batt.. and why spend the $30 fine or put ur life in danger for not switching on headlights?? it is not a rationale choice at all... rules are there for a reason.. stupid or not u cant beat the law...

and if i were u i rather spend the $30 on changing the headlight or best still save up for my batt which i don think the headlight can deplete the batt that fast cos i on my headlight everytime i ride my bike and my batt still lasts as long... jus don c the point of wasting that $30 for something so stupid...

i go 1 step further, i on high beam when riding in morning. much more noticeable and not as glaring to other road users cause ambient light is bright enough.

suggest you guys try it out, makes lane splitting hell easier when cars notice you and move aside.
