anyone from CNB? would like to know more about the job as a CNB officer. is it difficult to get in?

heh lady, CNB also stands for Changi Naval Base..but since what you are asking is the other type of CNB then i don't think i'm relevant at all..o_O

Life as a CNB officer involves alot of monotonous work. Waiting and waiting to strike. Tons of paperwork. That job would turn your entire life upside down. Your time spent with friends would be severely limited. Your social life would be extinct, weekends and public holidays are but a myth to you. It is also much more dangerous than than jumping off a perfectly functional plane. During a drug bust, the traffickers know that they would be hanged (for those with hard drugs) if arrested or at least be jailed for years. And they are willing to do anything to get away, including to kill.

It is a thankless job. People around you would worry about you all the time. There is no glory in it, only personal pride in having done a part in eradicting the parasitic scums from society. I have the utmost respect if you really made it through the selection and become a CNB officer.

There are many other ways to help others, not just joining CNB. Helping out disadvantaged people at those homes gives you social life and inspire you in life as well.

Good luck.

I was attached to the DIU of my division for 8 months last time. My main duty was mainly to conduct urine test for the drug suoervisees. Unglamorous job cos every day have to play with drug supervisees' urine... :sian:

I knew one or two uncles from SANA (Saingapore Anti Narcotic Association) as im a volunteer from there. Some are from the ADU (anti Drug Unit). Once told that they must be on standby at all time, ready to pounce at any operation. RESPECT!! Loads of REPORT writing! haha!

One of the experience officer actually told me that when he bust a house suspected of trafficking,he was greeted by an old granny. when they usehered the old lady aside they saw a baby cradle in the living room. So they continue with the bed room,to their amazed they saw an addict believe to be the trafficker *still chasing the dragon* with loads of drugs in the wardrobe. Knowing he'll be facing the gallow,he restrain arrest and put up a fight with those officers. Sadly he was caught. So he try to request the officer to let his cuffs off and let him hug and kiss his Mother and baby for the last time. With mutual agreement of the officers partner, they release the cuffs with strict supervision.

*Trafficker Hug and Kiss* After hugging and kissing his baby with the officer by his side. He gave the officer nearest to him a very hard pushed and FLY OUT of his window, splashing his gullet on the footblock in the process. Head Smashed due to the 16th floor drop.

See this line is somewhat CRUEL but someone have to do it. I'm also eager to join the CNB. RESPECT EM' BE EM'!

try to catch the big lord nt the addicts~

If I go Forward, Follow me

If I hesitate, Push me

If they kill me, Avenge me

If I'm a traitor, Kill me

next time if Trafficker-Hug-and-Kiss, must stand-by at and lock-up windows and door(s) first.

Myths:

1) CNB officers have to take drugs to blend in with the addicts - NOT TRUE

2) CNB officers have no life, only work work work. - NOT TRUE

3) CNB officers must join as Police Officer first - NOT TRUE

Facts :-

1) CNB Officers may look like drug addicts but they ARE NOT allowed to consume drugs, even during the course of duty. They are trained how to 'consume' drugs, get what I mean?

2) CNB Officers do have time off, leave, MC. They can still spend time with families and friends. It's all abt time management. There are many CNB units and teams. So everytime u see drug bust reports, it may not be from the same team.

3) CNB is not part of Singapore Police Force. So there's no need to join SPF for this matter. You can join CNB directly. However, if you need to attend 6 months Basic Police training at HTA (for those whose NS is not police).

Apart from that, ppl from STAR Unit, SECCOM, etc really envy and respect CNB officers. Why?

STAR, SECCOM .. they train everyday, and they are super good with weapons and tactics.. BUT.. they seldom see action. They are dying to see action.

Whereas in CNB, everyday fruits a different action packed situation for them.

It's also not easy to be in CNB. U just need the cut, the guts, the quick thinking attitude.

If u wanna join cnb, just apply online at http://www.cnb.gov.sg

Good luck
