hi pichudot i did not get the wrong person...... i read from page 1000 till now 1886....... because i saw your post to recommend tow the bike for Dyno run in and then wrack on the 2nd gear and above something like that .... that why i asking how much is it for the Dyno run in and what is the pro and cons

$110-Dyno run + mineral oil.

Pro:

No need to engine run in ure bike as per factory advice.

Once dyno run finish just left to run in gearbox.

Cons:

Makes wallet lighter, and Norman will tempt you with termi pipe

wah.. u one serious stalker.. hahaha..

okay.. so wad u wan to know?

they call it hard dyno run-in, anyway fyi.. if u wan soft run-in, jus follow what is written in ur owner's manual when u got ur bike.. if u wan a glance on ur owner's manual beforehand, u can go yamaha uk website to download..

try reading the below URL.. it's some how similar to it..

for me, i get my bike shop to tow my brand new bike (without riding it over) to racewerks.. please make appointment with norman first hor.. when u making appointment with him, u can ask him for you need to do or prepare blah blah blah..

cross ur fingers that the day when ur bike is out, it's a sunny day.. it's more preferred.. norman will perform hard run-in on a dyno machine.. after that, he will tell u that what he done is ur engine run-in + gears 1 & 6 only, u still need to semi run-in ur gears 2-5.. u can choose to hard run-in them at NSHW or on track or anywhere else u preferred..

i chosen to run-in them on NSHW, all the way from SG to Malaka A&W R&R then all the way back, touch & go style.. i din go easy on these gears.. i jus wack them hard till almost to the red line.. hahaha..

hope these helps.. on all the pros & cons & why & reason & blah blah sh!t, go ask norman.. i lazy to explain.. hehehe.. :p

haha i'm not a stalker but i just don't want to regret after buying over the machine..... forum got people like you all so kind to post and i read....... is not easy to read almost 900 pages of post and the poison you all put it in......

By the way how much you pay for the dyno.

i recommend white, it's nice n not much of white FZs around but i suggest that you get the ABS version la, it's better n safer n it just costs 1k more....

I am 1 of the rare white FZs around but mine is non-ABS. Maintenance wise can consider getting a tank bra or tank pads to protect the tank grip contact areas from turning yellowish. White or black it is still a great bike. :thumb:

wish to share my near miss today in e hope tat e msg can be spread and make our roads safer.

need to rant about a very unpleasant close call.

Was lane splitting on PIE toward bke from toh guan. At around 6.15pm, just after clementi exit, a spark/wave (not sure) cut into my "lane" at close to 40km/hr (my spd). Had to e brake and rear wheel slided. Thankfully managed to regain control. As a after thought, i hope e bike following close behind me also safe. E bike plate is fbb560** (not sure whether suitable to post).

I ve this msg for e spark/wave rider. We r all riders. Pls spare a thought for each other. Already some drivers r out to kill us, so pls dun increase e quantity of murderers on e road. Wat would u feel if u were in my position and someone cut ur "lane" causing u to skid when he himself manage to stay safe.

Pls just take an extra moment to look out for traffic. By cutting me in such a dangerous manner which cause danger to urself too (i might not ve reacted and manage to brake and went into u. 1000cc ram into u, not funny). I hope u r not patting urself on e back saving the 15 seconds u gain by putting both our lives at risk.

To all other riders (those who cut into lane split lanes without checking). Pls dun try to save 15 seconds and put urself and fellow riders at risk. Pls dun ve e mentality tat u signal = behind must give. Not saying tat i won't but u ve to be visible to me in e 1st place.

I beg all fellow riders not to "help" make our roads more dangerous for e sake of 15 seconds. Let use this 15 seconds to turn our heads and look!!

I wish tat i would not 1 day read a similar case where e rider at e back didnt manage to recover from his sliding.

will never end one. Stupiak riders/drivers are everywhere. I myself was banged while still in my lane. Still dont know how the stupiak taxi driver cannot see me and my 40L side boxes.:sian:

What we can do for ourselves is to keep calm, be alert for any stunt from driver/rider, and ATGATT,

My previous bike s4 black, after constant exposure to rain and sun, e area around e fuel cap become white. :)

Wat is ATGATT? Anyway this near miss i really didnt see e bike. Think he filter into my lane from in front of a large vehicle.

This is e 2nd time i encounter this situation on my fz1, both time rear wheel slide. On my s4 only wet road then will slide, fz1 dry road also slide. dun understand. :(

i think Yatz86's ATGATT means All The Gear All The Time.. :)

anyway, fz1 v nice to do power slide or wadever kind of slide.. in most occasions, rider wun feel the life threatening feeling with doing such due to it's weight & rear wheel base size.. hehehe.. :D

i wish to share a couple of things after riding a fazer 1k 2006 model (efi) for a few years.

fuel tank... the gas cap is not water-tight. u will need something to cover it if ur ride is exposed to rain, so that water does not enter the fuel tank. i've heard that various other makes and models might be affected, too. try to get ur fuel tank checked if u experience the engine spluttering or coughing intermittently, as if it were due to a bad spark plug (i wasted 4 good iridiums thinking that they were the problem).

the above caused me to send my fuel tank for an internal treatment (rusted badly from the inside) and a fuel pump replacement (also rust damaged, apparently). the fuel pump itself cost $600+, by the way. i also replaced the fuel cap (now i need another key for it), but this replacement cap also leaks.

the magnetic cage involved in the charging system. what used to be made as a solid piece is now made with vertical bars (the stator assembly, i suppose) and these are prone to wear n tear, leading to breakage. if that happens, a loose piece will be flung around inside the gearbox.

i was fortunate enough that the cage bar did not break off, but was loose and caused a sound much like blowing across a pipe hole might make (it followed engine speeds). it was quite a minor sound, but it bothered me enough to visit the mechanic, thus discovering the "design flaw" (the mechanic was puzzled on why yamaha made it this way, it was obvious that the assembly would be less durable and could potentially cause catastrophic damage to other parts).

my overall impression after these few years is this... it seems to me that the older models are better made, for eg, the carb'd fazer 1k. no such problems. while my ride is generally sound, i feel somewhat disappointed by these issues, as if the newer models were designed with less care.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I have a Gen1 FZ1 and yes I've never faced any of these problems in earnest... but my fuel tank does have a lot of rust spots inside it and I've been considering getting it treated as well. Could you share some details on this? What kind of treatment was it, where did you get it done, and what did it cost? Do you see rust spots appearing again after the treatment, or is the new one more resistant?

Thanks in advance!

On e comments about fz1 sliding.

So far has happened to me 2 times, both times heart attack. Not for e faint hearted. :( should i e brake more slide more to get used to it? ._.

On e rusted fuel cap, I'm riding 07 model, e area just below e fuel cap and e space inside also slight rust. How to clean? So far no engine problems thankfully
