Look at the blue one selling for 4k.... that fella has been trying to sell since long ago, still no takers.

Push a S4 into a bike shop easily, try asking them to accept an SV.

I'll still NOT ride an S4. It's everywhere!!! Boring bike I find.

BUT, give it to someone who'll ride to Cambodia, then you'll appreciate the reliablity.

Can't believe myself, so politically correct.

you have to admit the fact that s4 is a very practical bike to own and ride.

i do like the sound of v twins with afternarket pipes on.

There's a guy in SBF selling fibre-glass rolls to wrap exhaust headers.

I checked wif him, it cost $35 per roll for the fibre-glass roll (from header to mid-pipe).

But have to DIY the wrapping.

Any of u interested?

The exhaust wrap is suppossed to help ur exhaust system 'expel' the gases to the outlet, ie extractor -> endcan -> outside atmosphere, instead of some lost as heat due to heat conduction.

It will be a layer of 'insulation' around the exhaust headers, can lower the engine area's temperature.

I cant seem to find the post which 'captain_des' posted last time... Price was $40 per roll, now become $35 per roll.

But it excludes installation.

I tried calling at a shop tt specialise in Remus exhaust (doing for cars), its $80.

Its mostly found on cars.. and Harleys.

Think thrice before buying the SV, the downside being reselling.

Once you buy it, the only time you wanna sell it is when you wanna get a SV1000, TL1000S or TL1000R!

Really tempted to get a TL1000S heard this bike is wild... I also heard that the price was like $2K+. Once at a bikeshop, the mech told me that they took in TL1000S at $1.8K then wanna sell at $5K....

I think the debate will be endless for individual bike make and model.

I am not trying to do a comparison between both bikes.

Frankly speaking, You cant compare the rate of wear and tear like this as it differ from individual riding style and type of usage.

Not until you really own one before you really consider it as a boring bike.

Realiability, you already found the answr at every mscp.

It still have its own share of fun which people might not know how to appreciate until you really own it.

I believe every one of us here has a different concept of 'good bike' and 'boring bike' .

I almost brought a SV650 before i got my current twin. The SV650s a good bike to me yet the super4 is another good bike to me in another way. 2 different bikes from different classes.

It s an endless debate i would say.

Well, I not saying S4 is not a good bike. In fact, its a very good bike.

Of course I understand wear and tear differs from individual riding style and type of usage, its common sense. But please trust me, me and my riding partner had examine this thing quite carefully. My riding partner is a very gentle rider and we had almost the same riding routines very day. There's a theory to support this.

I own a 400cc in line 4 before, and most of the SV riders here do. It was the bandit 400. Compared to the s4, of course not as good, but there are some areas where this bike will shine. Anyway, its a transition bike, not something for me to show off. But I just have no feeling for that bike.

Now, who do we define boring? Ok, I have not rode a S4 vtec to its limits, but I have certainly rode one before. Maybe, I'm too used to my SV, or maybe that's the way it is. Maybe I shouldn't use the word "boring", may be i should say The s4 engine is nice, smooth and quite, easy to ride, but its not something I want. Most of the svriders will say the same, but not just because we had bought the sv and do not want to contradict ourselves. Its simply how we think this how a bike should be, - fun. Or you can say its just a opinion.

And we are all young at heart. The bike we buy is not simply just to bring us from point A to point B. Our bikes is an expression of ourselves, unique in special way. But I didn't bought the SV just because I wanted to be special, but rather I had already know what this bike can do. And its a very practical bike to me, and cheaper to run also, even my cc bigger.

I'm not trying to label people here. But the herd effect is a very prominent purchasing trait in Singapore. Look at the number of Toyotas on the road. its like he buy this, they buy also this, if I need to buy, I will also buy this. What are the purchasing processes you have gone through before you reach your decision? Has any other choices comes to mind? Are there too little choices or is it a matter of convenience? If Honda has a 400cc V-twin, will your choice still be the same?

Personally I am riding an S4 Spec 2 and why this is my ride:

1) It suits me financially as of now cos buying another bike means need to fork out another lump of $$. - Is a SV more expensive? I don't think so, just very difficult to find one.

2) The power delivery is sufficient for me at the moment however the itch to own a bigger cc bike gets bigger by the day. - The power of the SV is really no big deal.

3) I trust a Honda Engine. - I also trust but I can't afford a VTR1000.

4) Parts are widely available should I need them and I can share amongst my S4 friends. - Very very true. I do have spare parts and even mechanic problem.

5) I can change the setup of my S4 to touring mode, for track as well as for normal road use. - SV also can.

Why I might buy an SV:

1) 2 spark plugs instead of 4 - Yes, spark plugs very expensive. And engine oil SV use less 1 bottle also, saves money.

2) I would want to feel the difference of the V-twin engine

3) The insurance cost of the SV650 around the same as my current Honda 400cc

4) To be different and unique? When I bought this bike 5 years ago, I expect more people to buy. Honestly, before this bike came to Singapore, its already a big hit in Europe and US. So for me, its just the overall package. There are some things you didn't expect to enjoy until you own it.

No problem, glad that u like it. For silkscreening logos on T-shirts, there's a minimum quality... I'm afraid very difficult, hope you know what I mean...

BTW, that looks more like a 03 SV...

I was reading http://www.svrider.com when i chanced upon something...

MUFFLERECTOMY

Details:

Anyone who owns an SV650 knows that the stock muffler makes the engine sound like a lawnmower. If you want better sound without the expense of aftermarket exhaust and rejetting, go down to the local hardware and pick up a drill bit extension (approx. 13" long) and a good quarter inch steel cutting bit. Chuck the extended bit into your drill and insert it into the end of the muffler until it bottoms against the inner baffle plate. Carefully drill through the baffle in three or four equally spaced places (use a flashlight). Don't worry about the shavings since they will be trapped or blown out and cannot reach the motor. Add holes till you get the amount of sound you want. You won't believe how much better it will sound with no loss in performance. Later on, when the piggy bank is fat, spring for a slip on and rejett with a K&N filter. It's worth the price in performance gains, believe me!
