still in the running in process, its a stock 883L

Congrats dude! Enjoy! :thumb:

No pipes? Sacrilegious! hahahaha. Well we'll see when we'll ride again. Maybe Sunday or something? I have to be at work at odd times but I think I can sneak out for a rumble or two around town sans ERP. Anyway keen?

Dun pressure him. There's so many choices to choose from. Hope he finds the sound that he likes.

Congrats on your new ride. You probably know this better but anyway, before you start any mods, enjoy your ride first and see what is lacking in your sporty that you would like to upgrade.

If you want new pipes, perhaps you should look at an entire stage 1 mod if not you wont get the best out of your pipes or your set up.

Cheers and hope to see you on the road soon.

Heh, thanks for the concern, I have recovered fully except for a growing itch to ride again! :) Bike is about 2 weeks away from completion.

never take pic? boo swee la. All waiting for you man. Get well soon. Both bike and rider.

Take pic of a partially dis-assembled Sportster?? :giddy: nothing nice to see la...

My dilemma now is that I may need to go overseas for a work stint in June, if I put my bike back OTR in April, kindof wasted for the road tax when I am away (my bike is currently laid up). I may just leave the bike laid up till I return from US, but dunno if I can tahan that long or not :(

Glad to hear that you're better.

Yup, nothing nice to see for a naked frame. I removed the tank for my Shadow and it's really a sight of wires attached to the frame.

Other than the screaming eagle pipes, what other options are there? and Christine55 thanks for the advice, but at the risk of sounding really dumb here, care to elaborate on the entire stage 1 mod? Thanks

Any rides coming up soon........

python, vance&hines, supertrapp... etc. stage 1 is basically pipes, SE air cleaner and a fuel-mapping unit (PCIII, fuelpak etc.) that's usually more than enough for most.

i was out yesterday riding with HOG.

Got a complimentary ticket for BIKEASIA 2008

Goh-Johan was there too.

By the way to ride with HOG, you dun have to be an official member.

So if u r itching to ride with fellow harley bikers (larger group) and exchange a thing or two. then u know where to be... will keep this thread posted on upcoming events.

@Stevenbarter13:

There are a lot of pipe options out there. But first, hope i dont embarrass myself infront of other forum friends...here is what i consider a stage 1:

Free breathing air cleaner.

Free breathing exhaust.

Rejetted carburetor or remapped EFI.

Upgraded ignition.

It is pretty much a 'catalog' upgrade. What i mean is, you can get most parts from any catalog out there. Harley Catalogue. Fat Book, Custom Chrome etc.

The air cleaner, exhaust, and re-mapped EFI (which i believe your new sporty is) should all complement each other to produce the most efficient torque and power curve.

Free breathing air cleaner. This is the simplest upgrade to perform for you. You can change to a K&N element or use the Screamin Eagle ones, or go the more radical route by installing higher end air cleaner assemblies like Forcewinders and Hyperchargers. At minimum you need to let your engine breath by changing the stock air cleaner.

Just FYI on forcewinders and hyperchargers: If it rains, there is a bigger chance that your airfilter element may get wet. and if it does (when you are not riding), starting up will be a problem. They look real good but for Singapore and inter country travel up to MY and Thailand, maybe your stock aircleaner cover would be better. Just change the filter element. Just mho.

For your exhaust, there are huge to list. Normally if you want loud and good performance, perhaps you can try out exhaust by D&D or HOOKER. Harley ones would be screamin eagles pro 2-1 but last checked, i dont think they are in production anymore. For good and cheap exhaust that performs well, you cant go wrong with Pythons. Those i mentioned are full systems. If budget is a problem, then you can just stick with the stock ones but just change the slip on mufflers. Scremin eagle, kerker, Vance and Hines has them and honestly, unless you intend to race, buzzing around Sg, or even inter country would more than suffice. they look and sound great. You can get them at Ah Yee, Meng at Sumsoon or Tony at Kallang. They may even have 2nd hand complete systems and so may be able to get something cheaper for you.

Have your EFI remapped by the dealership. for electrics, it is best left to the guys at the dealership. This would help with a more stable fuel mixture and along with the filter, and exhaust, this would be your 'last' thing to do for stage 1.

Of course you can also upgrade your ignition but since yours is a sporty and new, maybe you should put in more miles first before doing that. Understand the peak rpms first and if you dont like it, then upgrade.

Hope this has helped.

Cheers and ride safe.

Thanks for the info Christine55 (although it's not meant for me). At least it gives me an idea what I need to do for my bike. Hehehehe! Absolute newbie on HD here....
