No leh ... ride for a while and see first. It'll get louder as I run-in right? Exhaust so loud how to come home late at night uh? You guys just off the engine and push the bike in or just ride as per normal but try to keep it down?

It's funny that I worry about loud exhausts as I used to have termi pipes on my Monster  But I was below 30yrs old then. It must be the age catching up ..

Eh, if you worry about the sound, then you got the wrong bike lah... hahaha... Like what was mentioned, just be quick when parking or moving off. Reach already straight away switch off engine. Gone are the days when you turn on engine to warm up for 5 mins while u smoke a stick :D

Whats wrong with the fuelpak?

I have the PCIII. I had bad popping on deceleration (FXDC). They also dyna tuned it. Forget how much it cost, but not cheap. I cant say that I am happy with the results as it still pops a lot even after taking it back. Better to leave it be. Or just get the PCIII, and use the canned software for your aircleaner and pipes. Dont dyna tune it.

I dont think the PCV has too many advantages (except its smaller). If you are going to mod your engine a lot, then need to get the auto tuner which is separate purchase.

Also, the bikes run lean from the factory, so the tuners will enrichen the mixture, which mileage will suffer. But prob not much difference to the fuelpak.

Only 2 places to get the PC that I know of, both in the Alexandra shops.

I put the PCV and had a Dyno tune last week after putting on the SE high flow air filter. I'm riding an 07 FLSTC (1584cc).

Responsiveness is greatly improved and all flat spots etc. eliminated. Performance improved significantly through the full range paticularly bottom end. Red line is now at 6.2k rpm up from 5.5k rpm - not much chance to use 6th gear in Singapore anymore. Engine also seems to be running cooler and overall ride somewhat smoother. Not cheap but in my opinion worth it.

Having said that I think my 1200R (05 carby model) is still quicker off the mark.

Cheers

The problem I am facing with the Fuelpak is that there are some flat spots that really irritates me to no end. I am okie with the popping on decel cuz I am kinda used to it. But the flat spots are both irritating and dangerous. :(

Bike too heavy to push... Some of the pipes are not too bad at low rpm, but really loud when open her up. But for the Sportys, the VH short pipes in black really look nice - but are loud!

VH short shots are too short for my liking. And they sound very high-pitched. Which pipes got the most hollow sound? I think a 2-seater will be the 1st thing to get.

No, the exhaust wont get louder after you run in on a stock pipe. As for coming back home late, just ride normally and once reach yr slot, just off the engine.park it. next day going off early, do the same thing, only start the bike when you are ready to move off, dont wait for the bike to totally run in for 2-3 mins(that really sound disturbung for neighbours), cause your fuel injected engin will run in automaticaly while moving.

As for those who really afraid yr exhaust too loud, off engine from a distance and glide in........dont ride harley.

Thanks for the tips eh. I didn't even bother to do all that when I was riding the Monster hehe. And now I am worried .. :slapforehead:

Yah I was told that I do not need to warm up. Just fire it up and ride off.

Hehe yah loh .. you are right. Worried about sound that means I got the wrong bike. Let's see how many days of peace can my neighbours enjoy .. till I get new exhausts

so yohji, after riding for 2 days, what is your preliminary review of the bike?

on exhaust getting louder after a while, i think there may some minor difference. the noise absorbtion material inside the pipe gets hardened, dirty over time resulting in a slightly louder sound but because it is gradual, we probably dont realise it

I haven't been really riding the bike. Most of the time I was busy changing gears, keeping below run-in speed limits and meddling with the left and right signals (so troublesome to press left and right and sometimes it cuts off even before I make the turn). And all these while, carrying my heavy back pack (cause going to work). Imagine trying to run-in a bike on SLE every morning :faint:

Then just now I went riding to Tuas and AYE and the famous devil's bend then AYE then Bukit Timah then back home. Finally have the chance to really take my time to feel the bike w/o much traffic and that heavy back pack. Trying to see how to sit on the bike to feel comfortable. Still trying to get the best position that I like. Right now I am placing my butt right at the end of the seat where the support is, and stretch my arms far forward. I don't know whether I look bad-ass or look like a kok

Cornering wise, don't really dare to try yet. Knees cannot grab tank, a little scary. As I was slowly crusing along Tuas, I can hear the exhaust. Sounds nice and mellow. Sounds just right. But take note: I was the only one on the road. I think I'm the only one who says stock exhausts sound nice

Rear suspension seem to be a little firm now. Maybe it will soften up as the mileage accumulates.

One thing I am confused. Markings on the tyres say 41psi max load. Manual says 30psi. Which one should I follow? 30psi seems to be too low for a bike tyre.

Bike vibrates like a massager during red light. Don't know if the other road users notice or not. Looks like I'm trembling

That's all for now .. my opinions might change in the near future :D

To keep the signals on longer, press & hold. Only when you release does the timer start.

Oh so there is a timer? How long does it last? 30secs?

Thanks for the tip :)

I remember reading it somewhere that you should follow the psi on the tyre.

I usually pump 42 psi / 290 kpa front and back.

I would follow the manual (thought it was 30/36 front/rear). The psi on the tire is max pressure I believe. That said, a new pounds extra shouldnt hurt but 42 psi seems high. Could result in burst tube/tire just to get a bit more mileage. Plus overinflated tires dont do well in the rain. :(

Rear suspension seem to be a little firm now. Maybe it will soften up as the mileage accumulates

I think your rear shocks should be adjustable. There are slots in the bottom. They should be set in the middle, so can turn clockwise/counterclockwise to stiff/loosen. Can take back to dealer on most shops and should have tool to adjust.

Good luck.

HD guy told me to follow manual .. which is 30psi front, 40psi back. Tyres are Dunlop D401F 100/90-19 front and Dunlop D401 150/80B16 back. Isn't 30psi very soft? Hmm ...

Another question about the signal lights. How long do I have to press and hold so that it will not cut off in 15secs? The signalling is becoming a chore for me and it takes my attention off the road sometimes. Dangerous.

The rear suspension is adjustable but I wanna keep it as it is right now. See whether it'll soften up after a few hundred KMs.

Guess I'll be at the launch tomorrow night (hopefully nothing crops up at work). See you guys tomorrow (whoever are going)! Those who are going can send me a PM? So that we can exchange numbers. :)

PS: I got no black t-shirts. The ones I have are TRIUMPH. Guess I'll be wearing dark blue instead.

My manual states 30 psi front and for the rear it's 36 psi (solo) & 40 psi (pillion). I've tried various ways but i think the timer kicks in when you depress no matter what. I should ask Eugene about this.

Anyway, collected my bike from the 32000km 'major' servicing today at HD and it cost $413.75. The labour alone was $264.29. I sure hope the mechanics at least broke a sweat working on the bike :sian: i think it would be wise to go to places like sunburst for most of the servicing and occasionally going back to HD.

But what's good though is that they've lowered my idling speed and now the bike sounds much better. Sounds more potato-potato now.

I'll be trying to make it tomorrow too although i won't be wearing triumph or ducati t-shirts, it'll be like wearing liverpool tshirt and sitting at the man-u side :). Hope to see most of you there. 97946054.

I won't be surprise with some oil leakage because K&N uses their proprietary oil as the filter.

In what way is the wrap worth it? Looks, heat shield factor, performance?

Interesting read on the HD forums on heat wraps. Both for and against.

http://hdforums.com/forum/dyna-glide-models/428128-the-truth-about-exhaust-wrap.html

Wonder if getting the wraps wet all the time will hurt the pipes?

Will be at the HD launch, weather permitting. Spent 1 hour under the overpass this morning as took off my bags which hold my rain gear.

indeed it helps to prevent heat. But nt as effective as the steel shield. Performance wise cant really feel it.

anyway..im happy with it :)

yes..it will damage ur header if theres any scratches. its advise to spray a high temp paint before u wrap. If not...rust stain will spread all over the header.

Yah hope to see an interesting showroom with more show girls. I mean female staff :D

Wah maxxmadness is really MAD. He got a sleek looking Nightster (and much more). Learnt many tricks from him too.

Finally get to meet garyhwk (yellow 1200s!), conjurer (matte black NRS!) and a couple of other guys too. This is my 1st time riding with the HOGs. It was like a parade. BOOM BOOM BOOM all the way. Traffic was hell but still an experience for me.

I was the quietest bike. But since everyone elses are so loud, nobody notice that mine is quiet. I just pretend to be one of the loud ones

The traffic was crazy. That is part of the reason why i don't like to go for mass rides organise by HD. Freaking hot~! my legs were nearly cooked!

Anyway, I like the new street glide. If got matt black, that will be my next bike! :D

But the customised nightster last night was super chio. With brown distressed leather solo spring saddle seat, baffled grip and pedals, dark matt blue, mmmmmm.....$32000 anyone??

Yah man, the colour is nice - Black Ice Denim ... simply means dark matte blue. Very special colour. Nicely customised bits here and there .. I like it too.
