Harley Riders gather

hi, a little late reply here, but i am also on an iron, batt went off abt 3 wks ago, friends recommended oddessy - $240, same as at harley.

there is a cheaper yuasa, I was charged $180 cos it required some re-positioning of the wires to cater to the yuasa connection.

i guess you can try to bargain, cos yuasa shd b about $125 cost for them and i guess u dont need to go to harley mechanics (even outside ones to change the batt).

They also added a breaker for my erp connection cos the newer (thinner) erp reader is draining the batt, so now i remove the breaker for the erp when i am not riding, hope this help in sharing some info :)

Better to stick to HD original batt, they last the longest...

Yuasa unless from Japan, if not it's crap... even Japan ones do not last as long on a Harley...

As for the IU, just tap from the headlamp and u will have it on automatically when u r riding and off when u r not. :)

Hi TWdude n Seaking, maybe I share some info on e battery wif u guys. Harley batt are made by East Penn in USA. They do make e same battery without e Harley logo n package n it's juz selling for abt 55usd. I bought 1 n shipped it to Sg,total cost with shipping coz me abt sgd150 and I juz plug n play myself.

Y Harley battery is better than Yuesa, coz Harley battery is AGM (absorbed glass mat) type,it's made with gel n sealed. Yuasa do made them too. Most Yuasa in Sg r acid type.which may start to corrode ur bike when it evaporates over time thru e seals.

Hopes this does help.

No prob,I never like to let HDS earn my money,so I buy most parts off eBay n put them on at my workshop. Right now e bike is in for removal of the fork legs for powdercoating n be ready to put on e progressive springs n intiminators.

Bro, i'm interested to see how good the intiminators are. Please give your review when you can.

What spring rate and fork oil combo are you going with?

Thanks in advance.

Ballistix, after reading e F&Q on ricor website,i may not want to put in e progressive springs. Ricor says e intiminators work better with soft springs. E springs I got from progressive part no 11-1525.not sure abt e spring rate.

Ricor recommended to use 10sw oil for 49mm forks.

Anyway,my progressive springs r for sale! Brand new in box! For all bikes with 49mm front forks like dyna, vrods and softail Rocker. Interested, pls contact me at 94799964.

selling at SGD$180 (just to cover cost and shipping)

I've got intimidators installed on my iron. The result is night and day. Now I get a kick outta riding over potholes, so I can 'enjoy' my new plush ride :)

That sounds great! I love my iron too, just keep wishing for decent handling.

You're still on stock springs? What's your approx riding weight?

Have you done anything to your shocks?

Hi HD owners, may I know why is the seemingly more technically advanced VRODs not as popular compared to the other lines in the family?

Posted

Vrods aren't suitable for the urban riding in Singapore. Sportsters are one of the best selling here cause they are the most suited for our roads.

I brought you my bullets; you brought me your love.

Our colours don't run.

Hi guys, anyone here know how to disconnect the side stand switch for sportster 2009 model. Read online and found out that this is quite common for harley bikes to have problem with the side stand switch. Sadly, my sporty was infected with this 'sickness'. Whenever i clutch in, the bikes seems like going to shut down but once the clutch was released, it will be back running. Anyone faced with this kind of problem before?

The answer is within the question itself. A H-D historically is an air-cooled, basic engine. it was a design attempt that didn't take flight as expected.... who knows, down the line and over the years ...... perhaps

I would have thought air-cooled isn't suitable for SG; and push-rods are in the past. I think it's more of the price as it's double the entry sportster.

Thinking to get a cruiser someday as looks relaxing :)
