Hi guys, may be you all knew it already :sian:

oic, so it's the main factory that was on strike. There's still one more factory in Kansas City though, hope that one's ok.

Yeah, its ok now

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Unionized workers at Harley-Davidson Inc.’s largest manufacturing plant overwhelmingly approved a new labor agreement Thursday, ending a strike that halted motorcycle production for three weeks.

Eighty-three percent of those who voted endorsed the contract, which calls for a 12 percent wage increase over three years, the union said in a statement. Starting wages for new employees will be lower, but they will be able to advance to the same maximum rate earned by current employees.

Nearly 2,800 workers at the plant in York had been on strike since Feb. 2. The union rejected a company contract proposal that provided 4 percent annual raises but reduced pay for new hires and lowered health-insurance and pension benefits.

The strike disrupted Harley-Davidson’s national production and had ripple effects as far away as Wisconsin, where 440 employees were laid off Feb. 12. The walkout also forced many Harley suppliers to lay off workers.

Under the new deal, workers won’t pay health care premiums, but their deductibles and co-payments will be higher, the company said. Also, the company will reduce its matching of optional contributions made by new employees to the pension plan.

“The agreement is an important step in managing costs that could be detrimental to the business over the long term if the company doesn’t start to control them now,” said Fred Gates, general manager of Harley-Davidson’s York operations.

“This agreement is a significant improvement over the proposal rejected by workers earlier this month,” said Tom Boger, a union representative with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 175.

Employees had the option of returning to work as early as Thursday night, and all were expected to resume working on Monday, Boger said.

Thursday’s vote came nearly a week after the company and the union announced a tentative agreement.

The Wisconsin facilities are expected to resume a full production schedule over the next several weeks now that the labor dispute in York has been resolved, the company said.

My posting stated very clear, if still raining at 6.30pm, riding program will be cancelled. Even at 7pm is still raining.

Hi guys, I still running in my engine & I face this issue, need your opinion.

During 60 ~ 70km/h speed, when I engage 5th gear, the engine feel lugging (Sound from the engine like "tak tak tak"), then I drop 4th gear, the engine seems like revving high. The difference I feel is a bit big.

As like the others, I don't have a tach meter, so don't know how much is 2000rpm or 4000rpm, just by merely guessing & hearing the engine sound.

As lugging will spoil the engine, is there any website that states when to change gear at what speed? :?

Thanks

Exactly the same question i asked after I got my sportster 1200. There are some online calculators around to calculate engine speed vs rev, but you need data on your gear ratios from your manual. For sportster 1200, 60 to 70 km/h the rpm is less than 3000, but for your Dyna, I'm not sure. Your Dyna should rev less since your gear ratios suppose to be higher as you have more hp.

Yes, I did re-read your post yesterday on page 26 if I remember correctly.

Don't know why the HD don't install tach meter as stock~~

As a new HD rider I just merely guessing the rpm, the term "lugging" also differs from one another. I may lugging my engine but the sound is nice, giving tak tak tak sound, yet to others opinion I may have done serious harm to engine

May I quote from manual: "... Do not lug the engine by running or accelerating at very low RPM..." Well, I still don't know how low is low. 1,500rpm? Haha, seems like breaking in also depends a bit of luck.

Anyway overall I am very happy with my new toy.

low is below 1,500 RPM. I've lugged my engine before when I was running in, so I'm afraid that it'll also be bad for the engine. 7,500 km so far and it's still going strong.

Well, I just hope it will not be too serious.

Because I think most of us are too concern about revving too hard will spoil the engine, yet lugging will also do damage to the engnie too~~

Aiyaya, I better go dealership later after work to check with the mech, must share with them my worries, hehehe :D
