tried 168km/h at old lim chu kang rd on my x FR plate M400. miss the sound so much.....:weep:

Just wondering.....

How much is considered "pushing the bike" ? I normally cruise at 100km/h, and when its pretty late @ night, the ride is pretty constant. Imagine if I travel from West to East constantly @ 100km/h, is that too much for a 8 year old M400?

The mind is like a parachute; it only works when open.

Hi guys, i'm new to riding a Monster and really not used to it. Hope you guys could help me out.

1) There's a loud thud when engaging to first gear. Is it normal?

2) The steering is quite tight and really freaking me out at corners.

3) The bike is very hot after riding for a few minutes and my idling went up too.

4) Where to get the fuse? The one located near the air filter. Mine is busted after I fix the battery.

Peace! :cheer:

1) Yes, its normal. But might be softer if you lower the idling.

2) Countersteer is the way to go. Was your previous bike a smaller bike? Check your tyre pressures. And if your tyres are old, fresh tyres make a lot of difference.

3) Its an air cooled engine with the rear cylinder 5cm from your legs.

4) The fusebox is under the seat.

3) cos its air-cooled (for 400 only i think)

4) not sure about that..maybe the monster riders can answer that.

Just leave your bike there overnight, it will be first in line the following morning! :D

Btw, most probably you gotta overhaul your carb internals. They wear out too, like any other wear and tear parts, just that carb internals tend to get neglected.

different bikes, different abilities.

so the gsr can corner..but the monster's v-twin can blow my gsr to bits in terms of pick up.. jus becos i say in the gsr thread that a gsr can corner, u come in the monster thread n tell everybody about it.

anyway if u really want to play corner, pls stay off the road. do it on track.

no offense to monster riders though. i still think that v-twin is a work of art. :thumb:

bro,

i didnt say in any post that the monster not good in cornering. i jus feel that with the wider tyres on the gsr (180), monoshock n the swingarm design aids in cornering. from wat i know (n done some research as i wanted a monster before) the tyres a little thinner (160 even for the latest 600cc) n the pipes are mounted in a way that i worry it'll scrap the ground (which there are high mount pipes, but i'm talking about stock bikes now). HOWEVER, compared to dual-shocked bikes, i find that monoshock is much more stable in cornering.

i didnt mean to cause any tension between us riders, after all we ARE all riders. n also i dun wan for no reason monster, gsr, super4 n xjrs riders to challenge each other at gap or devil's band jus becos of my post (which i think its childish). like i say in the previous post, although i ride a japanese bike, i still adore the design n engine of the monster. the reason i took the japanese bike is i want something that can be ridden everyday without worrying about fuel consumption.

anyway, i apologise if i've caused any friction between us naked bike riders. jus that recently i got into an accident (not by cornering though) n my mind is still a little groggy n i post things i didnt realise will cause alot of misunderstanding n such. i do hope u guys accept my apology n put this behind. after all, a gsr has 2-wheels, n so does the monster. i dun wish to start seeing gsr n monster riders start challengin each other n get fined (or worse, get hurt) in the process. :sorry:

Maybe GSR4 or 6? I've not ridden on it but judging from the looks it looks nice. GSR is quieter, pipes are less distinctive, less expensive and getting more common.
