Yo guys, may I know what is the purpose of riding without the airbox cover? I have a pair of Termis on my bike too but all the while I have been riding with the cover on. So if I want to remove the cover, I should get the high performance filter or will the original filter suffice?

Thanks.

Yohji bro,

Open airbox is for the two-piece KNN filter. Normally people ride with closed airbox. Its fine either way. I use normal KNN filter closed box with performance pipes no probs.

Dreamed I was a muffler. Woke up exhausted.

Dude, you ride along ECP all the way till AYE. When you hit Clementi exit(just after NUS), turn left all the way down to West Coast Highway. Turn right at main road. Macdonalds entrance should be about 50 m down. See you there!

tks dude!! c ya!!

thanks! i rode my bike to work yesterday... total distance 5km, time it took 8 mins.... time it took for me to wear my jacket, helmet, warm up the bike, gloves, etc. 12 mins... it takes me more time to get ready to ride than the ride itself... hehe!

Hi h@nn,

Which means I can also ride with the airbox cover off even though I am not using any K&N filter? Without airbox cover, does it mean that more air can go in and improve performance? Hehe.

Hey guys, I always read this thread and people here always say the Monster is a really fun bike.

What's exactly fun about it may I ask? The handling, the power or the style etc.?

Looking at the M400 btw, one of my choices for my next bike! Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the input on my air filter issue. I am glad that this monster thread is avalible for us newbies to get information. Thank you all

I'll throw a spanner in the works!

i keep the lid on.

notice the sealr tube that comes with the filter?

its to seal around the rim of the filter box,so that the miniscule of dust that did not get trap by the air filter, will be trap by the gel.

air box work like a vacumm,it will suck air naturally.

so dust in dew time will turn into a heap of mess, look at your air-con filter for example, same principle.

Leaving the top lid open will encourage a diif flow .thru the rim.

in heavy rain riding this lid will help in excess water thru filter.

so there will be no prob it carb fouling.

oh i see.. i was at KC on the day u were about to collect your bike. mike said u were at LTA or something. would have waited to say hi if i was not in a rush. hope u enjoy the bike. the condition was quite good and there is little you need to do up. for a 2002 bike, i think you got a good deal. I collected my bike that night too, u may have seen another yellow bike that just got reprayed.

by the way, was the M400 your first choice or have u been considering other bikes?

Yes. the Brown Seat Monster =p

Hi guys,

A incident filled outing:

1) Gear lever dropped

2) Wallet flown off

3) Paris Daker style riding. Ducati have conquered the off-road for the first time.

4) Rear shock stuck.

Here are some pictures of our trip yesterday:
