Hey yah I work in the West. I travel by Clementi Road everyday. Were you on your bike or in a car? I didn't spot any Monster. Anyway I'm not very observant. I only look infront or stare on the ground at traffic lights cos I don't want pple to think that I am challenging them. You know how intimidating we can look right with the full face helmet, riding jacket and gloves. So I don't turn my head much : ) You work in the West too? BTW are you from Hong Kong?

me inside car, the yellow monster got my attention...hehe. Actually saw you monster few times liao.

yah..me also dare not look around when riding, scared ppl say I "how lian".

Me live in the west. No lah..me not from Hong Kong.

Yesterday I was on my way to pump petrol, then this super 4 stopped beside me at a traffic light junction, when the light turned green, I purposely let him overtake because I don't want him to think that I'm trying to challenge him or what. But he open his trottle and zoom into my lane, like he was going to bang into me and then he zoom off again very fast. Like he's trying to tell me monster loose to super 4. So what if monster is less powerful than super 4? The ultimate goal of riding is to stay alive and ride forever right? If really want to show off skills, go to track, join the GP, win some medals so people will know, not zoom in and out of traffic and get killed then appear in the newspaper right?

Anyway....hooray! my monster can do 24Km/litre with Shell VPower98

Wah $80!! No wonder it looks so real, not like those Maisto models. At first I thought you bought a first hand Monster man! Thanks for the information! Might go down and grab one next time! I nearly bought a Maisto model from Minerva just now. Luckily I never do that haha!

haha if only that were a real Monster! there were 4 colours - black, red, yellow and dark grey with red rims. All also nice! I was contemplating hard between the red and the yellow. in the end i chose red, as you can see in the pictures... but i'll be getting a yellow one soon too :cheeky:

any pictures of your yellow monster to show us?

Monster is indeed a rare/nortorious bike, not seen 1 on the roads except for Vince's and GalanteD's.

Once at a traffic light a malaysian rider and his pillon on a cub kia was staring hard at my bike. I just look infront, glance back at them still staring. I was thinking "Nooo dun look, my paint work still not done. Its not showing its true potential".

Another incident even more power is I was riding along Kepel Road and suddenly I heard a shout, then looked to the right lane and a passenger of a van had his head stuck out. He then shouted if mine was the 400cc version, I noded my head. He than gave me the 'woo so chio' look + 'whistling' look on his face.

Any Monster can eat Super 4 for breakfast, at least for the first 5 secs. I agree, the Super 4s, esp those ridden by younger blokes, tend to challenge the Monsters. Juz let them go first, or stand your ground, either way you are a better rider.

BTW, there's a Raptor 1k for sale now, I think decent price, FW for $12.5k.

Cheers

14/39. I wouldn't recommend it for street riding though.

For street riding, try maybe 14/42 minimum.

Haha...Thanks...Now the pickup shiok but the top is like 120 now. Think bcos i change the exhaust and the jetting haven changed.

Can anybody explain about this sprocket thingy? Is it changing the 'wheel thing with spikes' where the chain rotates around?

Is it expensive to change or modfy to make pickup fast for street riding but probably lower top end?

What sprockets did you change to?

Sprockets, or final drive, is the final step down gearing for the engine. You already have 5 gears which are not adustable, so the only gear you can adjust on your bike is the final drive.

Lowering the gear ( Lowering the gear ratios ) means for every turn of the engine, the rear wheel will spin slightly more. This translates to lower torque at the rear wheel at every single gear, but better fuel economy.

Raising the gear, or increasing the gear ratio, means for every turn of the engine, the rear wheel will spin slightly less. There is instantly more torque everywhere, but at a cost of fuel efficiency (subjective), top speed (subjective), engine stress etc etc.

For example, at crusing speed of 90km/h, the Monster's engine is probably doing about 5000rpms. If you were to lower the final drive, it will cruise 90km/h at say, 4500rpms. This means two things.

1) The engine is turning slower, outputing less power

2) The engine will have to work harder to maintain the same torque at the rear wheel to maintain the speed. (More trottle may be needed)

So, if the engine is powerful enough, you'd actually save petrol. Otherwise, fuel consumption might even go up. Something I experienced on my Phantom.

If you were to raise your gear ratios, the bike might cruise 90km/h at 5500rpms. Again,

1) The engine is turning faster, outputing more power

2) The engine will have to work less hard to maintain the same torque at the rear wheel to maintain the speed (Less trottle may be needed)

So, the bike might actually save petrol. But then again, if you raise the gear so much that it revs out of redline before you hit 140, then you're overgearing the bike, overstressing the engine by revving it so high all the time.

spockets cost normally ard 200 onwards i guesss? my mito's spocket used to cost abt 170(fr cagiva) if i remembered correctly. monster's ones should be abt 200+ but aftermarket ones can cost more than tht ... basically...u increase pick-up...top speed will be lowered....and vice versa.... :cheer:

Haha it's funny isn't it? We are supposed to be proud of what we ride but instead, we are paiseh, dare not look around, etc. Anyway it is good to be humble : )

rehdeer,

When are you going to get more models? Maybe we can go together and get discount. Anyone else keen on this? Thinking of getting 2. One for my room and one for office. BTW for those who are interested, there are some pictures of my bike here: Yahoo Photo Album. Look under the Motorcycle album.

GalanteD,

I used to work at Tuas but now no more liao. Now near to Dover area. So we probably won't bump into each other when going to work unless you travel along Bukit Timah or Clementi. : )

:giddy:

Just now I nearly got killed by a Citycab taxi. It was a cross junction. Green light in my favour. Taxi waiting to turn right from opposite side.

I was about to cross and saw the taxi starting to come out. I flashed my lights continously when I was just about to enter the junction box (no time to horn, just kept on flashing).

Taxi STILL continued to come out further and was about half-way through the junction. Just when we were about to collide, I e-braked. Front wheel right infront of taxi's bumper but did not touch (I believe we were just centimeters apart. It was a miracle (could be due to the super efficient Brembo disc infont).

I stared at the driver. Driver raised his hands to say sorry. Then I moved off. I was too shocked to do anything anyway. Just dam bloody glad that nothing happened to myself and my bike. If I were to go abit faster and try to chiong over the junction, Taxi might have banged me from the side and I might not live to see 2006.

I don't know what to say man. My parents went to a medium and got me a tailsman for me and my bike (yes, even bike got tailsman) 1 month ago and I think it protected me. It is hard not to believe.

This incident really teaches me that "bikers do not have the right of way". We are at the loosing end no matter what. It also waked me up. You know how we get complacent sometimes when nothing happened to us, we just let our guards down when on the road? After each such indicident, it wakes us up and reminds us to stay alert and re-think about riding safely.

Ride safe man fellow Ducatisis and have a Happy New Year (I'll be working through-out the holiday).

:cheer:

GalanteD,

So you are the one who bought RRR's Monster! I was wondering why you didn't want to take the Termis?? I bought the Termis from him after you bought his Monster.

So you re-sprayed the bike to black eh? Hehe .. RRR told me you are obsessed with black. Hehe!

RRR's bike is the 2 digit plate one arh? no. 30 or something issit? that used to be red? with the round termis...
