yup. i bought my '04 last year, when i was 23. insurance TPFT was 1.5k. renewed this year at 1.3k with 10% NCD. soooo...unless your brother has a stable well-paying job.....better think twice about a first hand..goood luck!

Try go Speedway, like one of the FJR brothers mentioned. Yes, some may not fany the shop, but they did have at least 2 FJRs, 2006 and above models, in their shop. I personally got my 2008 FJR from there. Just have a look of course, no oblies....

 

And yes, I like the sound of our Feejers!

What do you guys think of installing aftermarket rear shocks? Is it worth the change? I do feel, much like many of you, that the rear shock is somewhat soft, even in its 'Hard' setting. I got no qualms about the preload though.

I do find the OEM rear shock soft too. I left it in hard mode after 2 weeks of riding it . Maybe an Ohlins will solve the problem ?

Ohlins always one of the best stuff around. Its really worth the money. Definitely you can feel the difference in performance, stability and speed control.

 

After i changed the front fork spring and ohlins rear shock, my GTR was given a new breath of life. High speed travelling above 220km/h is very stable. No wobbling and coupled with GTR performance, i felt very confident.

 

Of course there are other brands like bitubo, weibeder (something like that) too. If you have money to mod the bike, go for ohlins system first. It puts on bike resale value too. ^_^

Hello, anyone can give advice on servicing for fJR bikes? I.E. Changing tires, brake pads, engine oil, spark plugs or even just routine checks.. Please let me know which shop I economic, provides gd service and a lot of accessories suitable for FjR... Thanks.

been doing some reading the past few weeks and it seems like, unless yamaha does some major upgrading in terms of features to the FJR, i might just decide to defect to the kawa conc next year. have to agree that for the amount of money on the FJR, it's still quite basic.

 

the conc was voted top sports-tourer for 2010, and got a much higher rating and feedback than the FJR. plus, there's also the latest buzz around the new adv class of bikes, namely the super tenere and multistrada. unfortunately, im not an adv fan (though the strada is definitely tempting!), so unless the price of the FJR drops, or the features upped, im leaning more towards the conc.
