nice to see u diy bro. wish i wasn't so lazy. can save some money!

Well aside from the saving, also get to know the bike inside out better, furthermore I think I do better than workshop, mostly they will just install the brake and never even bother to clean away the brake dust for you.

The new brake pads are running in now, no more screeching noise and I am happy with the performance of the Vesrah pads, for normal street use the semi metal pads work well for the price paid. Btw the pads are bought from Eversuccess.

Coming weekend going to bleed the brakes and replace the low beam H7 light bulb which has blown.

Don't save money by using the pads to the limit. Once your rotors are scratched, it'll be even more costly to fix or replace.

Elan:

My ZX10 calipers, radial master with 320 rotors are installed. Very nice braking feel. Don't need no brembos. Was gonna take a picture to make you gian :) Brakeline tight so this week gonna change before I run into a pothole and break the lines. When you doing yours?

When I got the bike already the brake pads were already used to the limit, can hear screeching noise during hard braking. I was in the CNY mood and finally change it last sunday.

You upgraded your Z1 forks? if I got moola probably I will buy your Z1 front assembly to upgrade mine.

Anyone tried fixing a higher wattage headlamp bulb? The original head lamp light bulb was 12V 55W, the one I bought was 12V 100W, will it melt the headlight and the socket?

My frontend is already zx6. I just upgraded the brakes to zx10 ones :) I have posted the frontend for sale here:

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/310769-F-S-Japanese-bike-parts-Kawasaki-others

If you're serious, we can discuss :) While we're on parts, let me shamelessly advertise my other stuff:

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/290249-Headlights-brake-hose-universal-parts

I've heard lots of stories about higher wattage bulbs melting stuff. I won't use them. You'll need to upgrade your wire harness and bulb socket to be safe. You electrical system may not handle it though. I've changed from YTZ9 to YTZ12 battery for bigger capacity but the alternator is still stock (I think). Yours probably the same. Size 9 batteries are quite small. If you want more like, you can try installing fog lights. May not look as nice. Another alternative is better bulb. I had OSRAM NightBreaker on my previous bike (FZ1N naked with single H4 bulb). Even though it's the same wattage and slightly whiter (3800K I think), it is brighter than stock. I'll go with this option.

I will KIV the fork upgrade as I may not keep this bike for too long. Thanks for the advice guess I shall play safe and get the correct bulb to avoid problem later on.

I'll be overseas for a week from 2nd March. So I'll leave it to e workshop to settle it then. At least I won't miss the bike! Anyway my forks are at BikeLab waiting for new springs and seals : )

2 days ago, went servicing at JB (SKUDAI) where Kawa parts are genuine. Good service and friendly mechanics. Will go there for the subsequent servicing. Thanks to Is for the recommendation.

Hey bro, you bought the z1000?? Am considering the z1000 or versys....like the look n torque of the z1000 but do not like the tank range....just a quick confirmation from fellow new zed owners, whats the tank range? Can it hit 200km with the pathetic 15km tank range?

diruiz, you are missing the point. We want an alternative source for OEM parts. So how's your experience at Evershine?

Not sure about the newer models but Gen1 tank is 18L. My '04 reserve light comes on ~170-180 with easy half-city riding, that's about ~14km/l. Big reserve though.

Z1 and Versys are different bikes. One's a "streetfighter" (detuned sportsbike), the other is a "neuted" adventure bike :)

My bike will go to reserve after abt 160km on average.. the highest i clocked with reserve was 210km, that was me being crazy trying to reach jb with an almost empty tank.. and I pumped suprisingly 15.3L of petrol in @ petronas... i've read from some overseas forums that the tank is actually 15.5L.. doesnt matter anyway, still sux.. but if you want a bigger tank and frequent tourer, why not consider the faired version?

Ok bro. Next time I will post a message here. Will ask Is to lead the way again. Location is at Skudai, Taman Tun Aminah, Jln Pendekar 2.

I myself want an alternative to Evershine...lemme share one experience...being Kawasaki agent / distributor... they don't accept cards or nets. Not willing to absorb the less than 5% consumer convienience surcharge or whateva you call it. I had to ride to a nearest ATM to draw cash.

Going to try the Redline SI-1 for cleaning my fuel injectors, I have seen good feedback from car owners of better fuel mileage after using it.
