Think I have decided to get a mesh+leather or equivalent. JR now has slashed their prices to a really good price compared to what you can get online but I'm not sure if Daniese is really suited to our weather. Haha looks really hot

Raincoat over the mesh is easiest. Liner under - the jacket still gets soaked and when you remove it is very heavy with all the water soaked in.

 

Worst part is after the rain stops. Either you continue riding with the liner zipped in and get really hot, or remove the liner and ride with a wet jacket.

well what i meant is e.g. Jacket A is USD X on a certain website, plus shipping it will be USD Y and you convert it to SGD it be SGD Z. if you were to go to JR, look for the same Jacket A, it be SGD W which may not be that much more vs SGD Z. so the amount of money you saved via online may not be that worth it. my friend recently purchased 2 jackets there, apside and something else, about 500 sgd a piece approximately. online apside is going for USD 330?? and after conversion is about SGD 420 and plus shipping so yeah. you might save some $$ but not much.

 

but of course if you have connections with JR, that be better hahaha

Guys, icon has some new textile/mesh jacket that has just been released. I will be checking them outif possible on profile Asia and update you guys here. It looks really good and promising. But prices might be a tat high for some, 500+ish SGD I think. Icon citadel and icon overlord resistance.

I got my Komine mesh jacket (comes with shoulder, back and elbow protectors) from Motoworld for $180 I think; the more advanced models (with chest protectors and high-viz strips) are around $220-250.

 

I really like my jacket. Without the back protector the ventilation is superb, but I opted for peace of mind and put in a better articulated back protector insert.

Full leather is really bad especially in slow moving traffic and jams. You might end up not want to wear jacket at all. Perforated jacket might be different but think different people are tolerant to different level of hotness. Though leather offers the best abrasion protection money can get. Only doubt is the heat and when it rains.

 

But 1 thing for sure, the more uncomfortable you are, the more hot you feel, the more stupid, rash, stupid things rider will do to get away from the heat as quickly as they can. Hahaha

I agree that leather is too hot for our climate. Mesh offers you enough protection while keeping you somewhat cooler. Got to be pragmatic here!

I am also in need of a riding jacket. I dont need it to be water proof. But i need it to be able to provide me a decent amount of protection in an accident. It must also be cheap.

Well Regina is having one, online sites like revzilla and sportsbiketrackgear are having lots of close outs. Speed and strength, icon and alpinestar going for good prices.

Looks good is pointless if all it does is to bake you under the start-stop traffic in Singapore.

Mesh jacket is the best compromise here. Once again, I would not buy waterproof jackets. Hot as hell when not raining even with vents, and when it rains its not as good as a conventional raincoat. Just buy a size larger raincoa to wear over the jacket.

Been doing it for the past few years.
