99th Time at Planet!!!!

21/03/2013

09:25am

weather:sunny

mood: Wah! Nearly 100 times already!

Went to Planet because it's time to service my DR800! Tires 3 years old already!!!! :faint:

Plus the idling a weird weird, like too much fuel, but when close fuel cock to 3/4 ok leh!? :?

So at the same time, go to change back to original idling needle.

Asked Ah Chong to order rear wheel spocket and chain for the bike over the phone yesterday too, but today go there Ah Chong said no spare parts wor... but will dismantle my rear spocket and compare with other Suzuki bikes to see if there are other bike's spockets can fit one. :)

When I ask him to also to wash the carb and change back to the original idling needle, his face black and say "Don't wash lah! People wash carb 10 year one time, you wash carb once a year one!"

But when he heard of the idling he said maybe because of the needle, so will do it for me, but not today because alot of the mechs not around.

So left the bike there and went home.

100th Time at Planet!!!!! :cheer:

15/04/2013

06:18pm

weather: Warm

mood:

Went to Planet to deliver the rear sprocket for my DR800 and change engine oil for my little Phantom.

Over at Planet, Ah Chong saw me and ask me come here for what? If no sprocket the bike can scrape already.

Then he scold me "Lah Jiao lah! Front wheel no air already!!!!"

Then I gave Ah Chong the new sprocket for the bike and he go and compare saw that can fit then smile.

After that he changed my Phantom engine oil and I requested to use the "Elf" Brand one to support Singapore! :cheeky:

Then I gave Ah Chong a surpise!!!! I gave him an Ang Pow with $8 to "Huat Ah!!!!" And told him today is the 100th time I came to his shop, Ah Chong must have been very touched, because after that he asked for my bike number and wrote it on the Ang Pao with a marker!!!

Went home after changing engine oil. Will be going back to get my DR in a few days time after changing the tires, chains and sprockets. :)

05:50pm

weather: Good

mood: :)

Went to Planet to collect my DR800.

At Planet, I ask Ah Chong if the carb was ok. Ah Chong told me that the carb was ok, but the fuel pump was busted and there was smoke coming out of the exhaust after he changed the carb needle which puzzled him for some time.

Anyway, he changed the fuel pump to one from some Italian bike, and the bike runs fine now. And because of all the smoke, the air filter was blacken too, so he changed that as well.

When paying, there was this young chap who paid $230. So I cheekily ask Ah Chong if mine was also $230, and Ah Chong said "Aiyo! Your one serious loh!!!" (He always like that one!) Total bill was $300

Things changed. ($300)

1. Air filter

2. Fuel pump

3. Chain

4. Front and rear sprocket

5. Carb serviced and needle changed

6. Rear brake pads

When I was about to leave Planet, I saw a 1100cc GSXR, the ancestor of the Hayabusa! But Ah Chong told me that those bikes on the side are going to be scrape which makes me feel pity for the bikes. I told Ah Chong if I got money I sure will buy one and restore it. Then Ah Chong said, if you got money and buy one of them to restore, very soon you also no money!!!

After I left Planet, I rode 1 round to test out my bike's new setting, and found alot of vibration and saw the brace holding the exhaust had one of the bolts dropped of and went back to get a set of bolt and nut from Ah Chong.

Ah Chong got me a matching set and after fixing it to the bike, he saw that my hands were dirty and ask me to go and wash. When he saw me use only a bit of the green hand wash, he told me "Use more lah! I not charging extra for washing hands one!"

After washing my hands I went back home.

Going back, to Planet for my bike's next servicing? Definately. :thumb:

Dropped by Planet yesterday to re-tap my brake caliper mounting hole due to a sheared off mounting bolt. Hats off to the old man Chong. Did a wonderful job, offered me fruits and only cost $10.

Another shop told me to get a new caliper. Please don't ask me which shop though.

rien d'autre que le max.

The shop is too hot and popular already. Time is money, so I will give it a miss and look for other shop that can provide more prompt service.

May 2005 - July 2007: Honda Phantom TA200 (FU 3*** S)

July 2007 - Dec 2016: Honda CB400 Spec III (FBB 7***X)

Dec 2016 - Aug 2017: Yamaha FZ1N (FBD 4***E)

Aug 2017 - Present: Kawasaki Z1000SX (FBF 6***B)

no ****.

Ah Chong has a whole queue of bikes waiting for him to fix outside his shop.

the only way to get fast service at Planet is to either 1) Go there early like before 9.30am or 2) do some of the stuff yourself.

I usually DIY most of the labour and then get him to handle the more complex stuff. things like unscrewing bolts, removing panels or fuel tanks.

labour cost end up cheaper also.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

There are many reputable shops in Sg. Dun think all will chop ppl.

Anyway, I am happy for u that u got a 100 bucks discount after spending a day there. I can't do that for sure, unless for a 300 bucks discount.

12:00pm

weather: Slightly Hazy

mood: SIAN!

Went to Planet to get my Phantom battery changed.

While there, meet PureIce and Amarni there.

While waiting, PureIce told Ah Chong his favorite customer was here again.

Kee! Kee! Since when did I become his favorite customer? :cheeky:

After that, Ah Chong told PureIce to go Geylang get a room to bath first, because by the time it's his turn to change his fork seals it will be 3pm!

Anyway I got my battery changed by the China mech. Service was quiet fast, since it was a straight forward job. :)

Total spent $38

After changing the battery, PureIce and Armani went off together..... .... to Regina, while I headed home. :weep:

Sigh! Wished I could go with them, but married liao, family first..... :(
