Hi guys

My 1st touring trip is cming up and i m not sure if i wan to get a wind shield?

So bros out there can give me some advice? My friends say the touring speed will b ard 140km/h.

I tried going abt 140km/h few days ago in malaysia n realise the wind is too strong, n i need to hold my handle bar tight. i dun think i can maintain tt position for an hour ride. So i was thinking if wind shield really help in creating a more aerodynamic for s4? thus my body will not catch the wind too much?

And wad kind of wind shield will be ideal?

Thk bros

IMHO, no need windshield also can..I went for my first trip to Thailand w/o windshield.. everythings okay..

my recent trip with windshield, everything is the same as w/o.. except i notice there are less bugs on my visor that's all..

It's more like a good to have rather than a must have item.. I hope it helps..

PS: if got spare cash, maybe buy some spares like trottle cable, clutch cable, rectifier, etc..

but i thought wind shield suppose to aid in cutting the wind thus your body not catching so much wind?

wad was ur crusing speed up to thailand?

i'm travelling at 150kph.. sometimes 160kph..

like i said previously, it's a good to have item..

for me i felt not much different with and without windshield..

spare would be more important.. *touch wood* if your bike fails you, if shop doesnt have spares, also LPPL..

but can send your bike via KTM back.. a very cheap and safe alternative, but slowwwwwww....

enjoy your trip!!

wind shield is a good to have item for cruising. it block off the wind instead of cutting thru the wind like sportbikes. u'll feel slightly better with windshield.

Good handle grips is also essential for long distance travelling.

Any recommendation for handle grips?

I was thinking of gel type handle grips great for shock absorbent, is it available?

the wind shield actually helps block out most of the headwind bro but it also depends on the size of the windshield.

Aerodynamic wise, it's not as gd as the sportsbikes.......i can only say it deflects or channels most of the headwind sideways and over your head, provided ur windshield is tall enough.

in heavy rain condition, when travelling fast, u can see the difference as well. Most of the rain will land on the windshield rather than lashing onto ur body straight....and my windshield protected me from flying debris such as gravels or tiny rocks there were flung off the wheels of vehicles in front ...........

the other main reason why i need a windshield is becos i use a very tall tank bag for touring. jus imagine without my windshield, i think the towering tank bag will be leaning or swaying in the wind during the ride than staying on my tank .......

hope all these helps bro . btw, i use a windshield that isn't favoured amongst the s4 community, prob cos it doesn't look as nice . see the attach pic to see the height of the windshield.

IMHO, if you wanna buy windshield, buy one that served the purpose..

Motoworld ones are short, more of cosmetics bah..

get Givi ones or Puig ones from LAB.. Fix outside their shop.. can browse thru the catalog too..

PaLmEr: Hi, may I noe where I can get BMW grips? Couldnt c them at Motoworld. Wanted to hav a look..

Actually Givi A770 deflects lots of wind directly onto ur helmet if u're sitting upright when riding. Thus mudman's windshield might b a better choice coz it's taller?

just got a windscreen from ah boy yesterday, brand is PUIG, lightly tinted, very nice, good buy, just that the mechs there did not do a very good in the installation, have to redo it fully by myself, i guess its still better to bring it to a bike shop you trust or better still, DIY if possible, only u know wat u urself wants. :cheer:
