Class 2B age limit changed?

am curious about the age limit, cause a friend of mine told me that next year, 2B's age limit will be raised from 18 to 21.

hope they change e age limit..

reason: kinda young to ride, thus higher accident rates.. not saying dat older rider dun hav but, old rider tends to make better decision.. as some ppl juz wanna show off they gt bike den chut many stunt to attract attention..

actually i felt that when a person gets older, he will soon learn that life is important, thus changing the age limit to 21 would be good, as he would not be doing reckless stunts.

 

and its always the young rider whos saying the "right of way" stuff. again, i felt that the "right of way" in singapore doesnt really apply for bikers. we pay our lives/arms/legs to prove that we are right.

this was once proven when a young rider was complaining to an older rider saying how he got into an accident. the older one was saying "why didnt u stop?" and the reply was "I was having the right of way!".

seriously for some its too young a age to drive..but actually the rotten apples are just spoiling the market and thus poisoning many people's thoughts about bikers and young riders

ur fren heard from who? jus curious. i hear rumour of this when im around 14 or 15. and now im 20. haha.

 

so i think it will still remain as a rumours.

 

to me, the age limited got raise ant also same. coz after being so "well-behave" in school, i will tend to be naughty outside when i got my licence. i learn how to be safe and alert only after some narrow escape.

personally i feel it's not the age, it's the mentality of the rider that counts, thou i do admit that once you're older you would be more responsible (with exceptions, of course).

 

hopefully they don't raise it just yet, heh. I can already take, but I'm waiting a while before taking 2b for personal reasons.

I prefer they do not change the age to 21 as some do need it for transport.

 

Rather I would like that 18 yo Pplate holder should not pillion till they are 21 and Pplate should be extent to 2 or 3 years instead of 1.

 

Why? Just yesterday one Pplate holder was pillioning a young gf was speeding inbetween cars and bikers at slipped road going to expressway.

He plays the slipped road with such acute angle that it look the bike will slipped anything (esimated speed to be around 90kph or more). One scooter rider has a shock when the speeder went pass him.

 

He show him his middle fingers.

These young punks ruining the image of all p-platers. No wonder everyone who i know (aside from 2 or 3 of my friends who are riders) is discouraging me to drop the idea of taking a 2b, citing 'too dangerous'.

Bike and car are both vehicles moving on the road and car have different power (from cc to turbo) ratings similarly to bike. If they change it for bike because those younger are not "matual" enough, then shouldn't the car minimum learners age be adjusted too?

 

 

A good way to reduced the number of accident would be to modify the (suggestion only) bike learning methodology to include practical defensive riding.

 

Things like :

(1) what they will do if another car suddenly swing into your lane (this is not taught in current schools),

(2) how they should maintain their balance when there are strong side winds,

(3) how they should ride and control the bike in wet areas (for the whole circuit with some metal paths simulating construction road and not a just a small potion in the circuit),

(4) how to ride through narrow path (in case there are bike parking space which is narrow) and have a good estimation of space and speed while maintaining balance

(5) so on.....

 

The main difference between bike and car during this scenario is that the rider must maintain the balance while maneuvering the bike out of danger while the car defers in method.

 

For those that have passed this test, I am sure he or she will have better control of the bike and has better awareness of the environment knowing a few useful defensive tricks.
